    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

Have they stamped all of that lettering and logos in, or is it engraved? Is it still flat? Those narrow areas next to the cutout are the nastiest place to stamp that much lettering in, it'll turn the iron into a banana. Unless perhaps they did not press it in as deeply (and with those large...

    Bosch BPD40

That's a good tip, thanks. My remark about stability was not about wobble in the bearings but it vibrated when I used a 10mm drill bit without pre-drilling. Don't remember if I clamped the workpiece.

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

I use waterstones, about 15euro on Aliexpress, works fine, I have a 1000/4000. And recently bought a 5000/10000 stone and a 240/400. You'll also need a stone to flatten them.

    Bosch BPD40

That was the point of my reply, I do not think there is anything similar in this price range. I'd forego some of the niceties for more stability, but you are looking at another 200 EUR/GBP outlay for something which is probably not as nicely finished. So yeah, buy the Bosch or spend 500GBP (Or...

I made a rebate plane, but..

I think one needs to be more than a little bit hamfisted to bend or break the fence on a rebate plane, but it helps that the 778 has two rods. This will also help in tuning it to be parallel. I like my 778 a lot, I think the depth adjustment works better than the lever.

    Bosch BPD40

LOL! I also was looking around for a drill press, and really the option is to buy a 120EUR/GBP chinese drill press, which I used to have, or spend about double that amount and buy the Bosch. The cheaper one only has a few spindle speeds, and on mine when lowering the drill, the pinole started...

    The Finkum Plane

No, that was my point, because of the geography there, it is unlikely that large deer would live there, even a thousand years ago. It's a lovely area to go sailing, and if the winter is severe enough, there's an ice skating event: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfstedentocht (last edition was...

    The Finkum Plane

Curious that they were using antler, that part of the Netherland is not know for deer. Not a lot of forests, and lots of lakes and rivers (hence the use of man made elevations to keep dry feet).

    DIY Grooving plane

Looks nice! For your next one, you might want to rethink using aluminium, not a nice combo with wood (marking). Bit of brass or steel will work better.

    Unusual number 6 restoration

A milling machine is great to have, did you also have him touch up the sides, or where these ok? One way to get around of the width restriction, is to put the plane on the machine at an angle. The machining marks will not be lengthwise to the sole, but you want to sand those away anyway. Even...

    fretboard radius plane?

One of my DIY basses has a cocobolo fretboard, and I immediately thought about that when seeing the thread title. Not so much fun, I think, grain running everywhere, scary with tearout and all. Scraping might work, and might even be nicer than sanding though.
