yes to wax, no to beeswax. wax sits on top of oil fine. beeswax has a very low melting point and will quickly become sticky. a microcrystalline wax would be ideal here. it wont show the finger marks and wont become sticky.

you could try turners retreat or stiles and bates. or look for cheese slicer on ebay. there are several at £7 ish inc p&p so you could bin the board part.

How much pressure are you having to use to impress the stamp?
