    Polyurethane on Oak

I agree with Pete. The only way to fix this is to remove the finish and the bits of wire wool.

Axminister - How is the quality?

This just demonstrates a lack of knowledge of global manufacturing and capabilities. Wherever you have things manufactured, you get what you specify and what you pay for. It is necessary to make various checks along the process to make sure that you get this. When you have something made in a...

    electrical testing

@petermillard this has just flashed up on my suggestions to watch. What is the kit that you are using at 1:26, it looks like exactly what I need but I dont know what to search for!

    Workbench Design

I would be concerned about losing the underneath as storage. I think that I would probably look at a piece of t track for clamping into and not having so much overhang. I haven't seen Dennis' design (or presumably YouTube?). He probably knows far more than I do.

Axminister - How is the quality?

Yes it is. I am not sure whether it is because good customer service is now expected from all companies so is less of a differentiator than before, or whether quality has deteriorated over the last 5 years. Quick delivery and easy returns are not valued as much as they once were, and in stock...

Axminister - How is the quality?

my personal sample size of not many (and all bought secondhand, which may filter out those that have developed early defects) has been positive. To be fair though if the welding has lasted 1 year, it is highly likely to last for 20. My machinery is 10+ years old and was trade rated or higher at...

    Jeweller's blades

In fairness though, it depends on how you access the forum. The view that I use only shows new posts and I would have no idea of what stickies are in each particular sub-forum. Nor would a search of jewellers blades probably have bought it up, and if you only know something by one name the...

    Hard wood suppliers

Without being flippant, eBay might be worth a look for a couple of small pieces for that. They list specific pieces with pics and postage is usually sensible.

Making small tables and such, to sell?

or make s or make something for the local church/village hall/other raffle. just make sure you enjoy making the item, it would be horrendous to get a few orders for something that you despised making!

    Career as a Carpenter

what space and tools do you have? Peter Millard's YouTube channel is inspirational in many ways and that and posts on here show what can be achieved in a small workshop. Peter has been at it for several years, but if you watch the videos you will see that much of the work is straightforward...

Making small tables and such, to sell?

as I see it, you are providing a friend/customer with a solution. most people wont care about the jointing method and whether the legs are pre-made. Some will actually prefer it because they wouldn't be able to afford the alternative and it is the difference between having something or having...

    Resin filled table tops

I know what you mean, but pay attention to the temperatures required. I dont know if there is a minimum but it gets very thick at low temps. Epoxy is not strong smelling so you may get away with doing it in the house- polyester resin you wont.

How to Line Boxes & Drawers

No sorry, cross purposes. It is good for linings if boxes which is what I used it for. For a strop, I would use an old belt. Whilst you wait to get one you could use a piece of MDF. It might be ok as a strop- Phil used old sofa leather in a previous post, but is too expensive for that...
