1/4 sheet palm sander or random orbit sander?

I think also that this is a good time to think of buying the cheap tools with a decent guarantee, eg lidl/aldi. they will probably get some intense use over the first couple of years and if they dont last you can take them back. if they last that long and have plenty of use then they can replace...

1/4 sheet palm sander or random orbit sander?

OT, but could I suggest that you get a decent set of brushes, decent set of rollers and a couple of decent dust sheets. When I moved into my first (and only) purchased house, I made do with the cheapest possible brushes and the cheapest rollers and they are horrible to use. You can make a much...

    Reamer

That is exactly what I was going to do, but I hadn't considered doing it as a single tool. good idea! If I ever make a second tool, I can do the same and not risk lumbering future generations with trying to work out why I made this tool! I say 0.2mm because I can get to that with a drill and I...

I shall write a little note with it to explain!

    Reamer

it is 10mm. I dont think it is too big a job to temper it so will do so.

    Reamer

I need to make a reamer for reaming out a wooden hole because I don't have a drill bit of quite the right size. It will only remove .2 of a mm at most. I am going to use the same silver steel that will eventually go in it. I know that I need to heat treat it but does it need tempering...

    Wanted TS55 Blade(s)

I have read the same thing. They do tend to buy from leading brands and rebrand them.

    Benchdogs

We have had a few discussions on benchdogs recently and the add -ons for MFT tops. There are some good Black Friday deals on the fences and dogs. I am about to place my order for some bits.

    Fence covering

I have seen far worse and far cheaper than those. Our front fence is far lower quality and the only parts that have failed are the top capping (loose piece) and the bits that contact the soil (no gravel board). They have been in the 10 years that we have lived here but are a project for the...

    Which Router Bit

I would buy your workhorse bits in 8mm. Most of your routing will probably be covered by a few bits anyway. 8mm are not as common in stores, but easily enough to get online from Weldon, CMT (probably many others too). For small bits and one off, 1/4" will do fine. Anything that can potentially...

    Glueing Veneer Christmas Cards. (Experiment)

It sounds like you have some scrap veneers and some glue- give it a try and report back! Interested to hear the outcome.

    Which Router Bit

Ideally yes. There is substantially more cross section area in the shaft. For many bits, it isn't essential. If the option were a 1/4" bit from b and q on a Sunday afternoon or not do the job, you could use the 1/4", particularly those that are not doing much work.

    Wanted TS55 Blade(s)

Great, let me know. I will hold off buying anything new for now. No hurry. Out of interest, I presume that you have a ts55 and don't do a huge amount with sheet materials. What blades do you use?

    Fence covering

That is a long fence, I have just put in 9 so I can picture it. I am not sure that most of the screening options will look much better over 20 odd metres.

Wanted - Festool CTL midi, CT 15, or similar vac

I know that this is a wanted ad but... The prices of used festool gear is generally very high, particularly on ebay. You may get almost as good a deal on a new one on black Friday. It is so bad that people can buy a new model, use it every day for several years and then sell it for at least...

    Calling plastic gurus...

I would go with epoxy as a default solution to most gluing tasks. A CA would probably do it too, worst that happens is it fails and leaves you as you are now.

    Chuck key lost

I bought a 4 way universal one from ebay (approx £3 inc postage). Its main use is to establish the size to enable a decent one to be sourced. in fact its only use is that, I think it was made from cathedral city.
