    Asking to much

Disappointing. I have asked similar in both Waitrose and Morrisons and had sensible answers back. Not sure I would rely upon the advice but it is a starting point for research.

What woodworking book to buy first?

whilst you are awaiting delivery, this may be worth a read. I haven't read this one, but have read the anarchists design book and another of his bench books. if you dont like it, nothing lost. https://blog.lostartpress.com/2020/07/06/now-available-for-free-the-anarchists-workbench/

    Asking to much

Do the shops still have sales reps? I presume that the builders merchants might but I don't hear anybody calling themself a sales rep now.

Arundel E5 belt cover for safety

It was possibly of the age when guarding was fairly optional and users made their own. There may not be a factory option available and even if so getting one may be nigh on impossible.

    First Tool Advice

There are many ways of sharpening and I use a completely different one. I am not familiar with grinders and that method so before you tear it open I would wait for somebody in the know.

    Plug cutters

I had one of the Veritas tapered ones with the 4 prongs. It worked fine but needs a pillar drill. I broke one using it on a cordless.

    First Tool Advice

Put a wanted advert on the for sale forum. They might not be the fanciest if steel, or even hss but I am sure that somebody may have a few spares to sell. Have you got means of sharpening, if not beg a gouge or tow and spend the budget in that because you will be stuck without it.

    Benchworks tool cart

Thanks Peter, I will look at poplar ply. I am ok with ground floor only, "site" is more than likely the garden, and when in the workshop it will keep everything together.

    Benchworks tool cart

still looking at this. I will get the plans for some Christmastime reading. Does anybody know of a sheet material that is lighter in weight than 12mm mdf or birch ply but strong enough to use for the cabinet slides and drawer bases. The picture is an example from FOG. It may be slightly...
