    Reading handwriting.....

Certainly Joseph something. I can't offer much more, but my expectation is Joseph something, and the third word is separate. Could be a place, a title of the picture etc. On the second word, it looks like the artist has signed his name and finished. If it was a middle name, or a double barrelled...

Guide Rail for Worx Circular saw

I think that you just need something straight and flat. Depending on what you have, the factory edge of a sheet of ply or MDF looks like it will do fine. I can't think of much else that I might have here that would be 8ft long. Shorter than that, eg cross cuts will probably be ok with a straight...

Guide Rail for Worx Circular saw

I don't know the saw, what size of straight edge do you need? I would probably suggest making one from sheet material. In not, then a piece of aluminium extrusion of some form.

What wood to use for Paul sellers workbench

partly quality, although you can search through and pick the best available to some degree (although it is in pack of several pieces), but it tends to be cheaper if you go to a timber place. if you are in roundhay and Wickes is also in roundly I would go and have a look at what they have...

    Dewalt table saw top restore

I would start with a magnet (even a fridge magnet) and see whether it is aluminium or steel/cast iron. If it is aluminium, does it have a coating on it? This came up a few weeks ago and the kity does have a coating on it. If it were mine, I would look to see if any scratches have displaced...

    Branch/stick wood garden gate

Interesting design there. The obvious sticks would be hazel or willow but I don't think you would get the look that you want.

    Track Saw

I am not convinced that the vast majority of this post is actually correct but life is too short to unpick each sweeping generalisation.

    Starrett 12 inch Combination Squre

The problem is that the seller is Amazon and they wouldn't know whether it is good, bad or indifferent. I am sure that we all use Amazon, but it is a valid reason for using the smaller retailers who actually know and use what they sell.

    Possible can of worms

The proedge has no learning curve. You could sharpen a turning tool on it correctly from the first use. If I was buying again now, it would be on the short list. A CBN wheel on a grinder with the appropriate jigs also would be. I am not sure which side the seesaw would fall on.

    Possible can of worms

I have the proedge, but I have only used it for turning tools, the odd plane blade and bench chisels. Never for kitchen knives so I can't comment on the jigs for that. I have never sharpened a drill bit in my life so no comment there either. I have had mine for several years now and I think...

    Starrett 12 inch Combination Squre

I think I used "only quality tools" but it was a few years back and they dont list combi squares now. Starrett 435M-300 Comb Square 300mm is well priced. I have never heard of the supplier though.

    Starrett 12 inch Combination Squre

Well, I am disappointed in that because I thought that starrett was a brand that you could buy and have faith that it would be perfect. It isn't right, so it needs to go back. I can't see much from the pictures but if 0 and 180 are not on the same plane then it is useless. I bought mine from a...

Random Orbit Sanders - which one is best

I would consider a decent sander to be one of those tools it is worth investing in because you will use it regularly, or on most projects. Spend the top end of your budget on it. I would avoid the black and decker. It is likely to be a cheap tool in an expensive wrapper. I would stretch your...
