    Help Choosing A Chuck

What lathe are you running it on? I ask because it it has a thread other than M33, I would suggest something with either an insert or a backplate. With the insert, you need to check that you can get an M33 insert as well as the thread you need (some are direct threaded for M33 and can't take...

    Metabo 10.8v drill/driver with charger & batteries - £70 @ PowertoolWorld

I have a little Bosch 10.8v drill driver (not impact). It is years old, and it is absolutely brilliant for what it does. furniture assembly, general drilling, screwing, spinning things for polishing and more. For the jobs that most people need a drill for it is ideal, and for the people on here...

    Drill bits

Don't make a special trip Phil, if it takes a few weeks I would rather that you and your good lady stay safe. Zero risks where possible.

Planning Permission - any cautionary tales of woe and despondency?

I have been waiting for 3 months now for permission to have a TPO'd tree pruned. I an appeal but they tell me that it will delay any decision further, the tree officer will get to it at some point.

    Metabo sxe450 extras

I found that the best place for abranet was ebay. I have used a few sellers over time, but I would expect that they buy bulk packs and make mixed packs from it. I used the rest express pad saver- Mirka Pad Saver Disc it was a couple of years ago but it looks the same. they also do the abranet...

    Asking to much

When I started work, only 20 odd years ago we had loose parts in bins (and they were cheap). if somebody wanted an odd measurement, you could grab one and measure it. Within a couple of years we moved predominantly to prepackaged units. The price multiplied by many times, but you couldn't...

    Drill bits

I don't know how to sharpen drills, and for the 0.1mm sizes, I wouldn't want to risk an oversized hole. I looked at a couple of sharpener options but it wasn't worth it for the few per year that I get through. I don't have many drills, and after the initial outlay of a set of jobbers, I doubt...

    Clamps

these clamps must be new to the uk market. I looked a few months back and they got good ratings in a FWW magazine test but you couldn't get them here. Interestingly they do a 450mm which Bessey do not. 600mm is a bit big for much of what I need, and 300mm just a bit small.

    Drill bits

I have a few hellers from TS actually and I do like those. The ones that I need to replace are odd sizes- 7.4mm, 9.7mm, etc. I dont use these few on anything hard- acrylic and ebonite when making pens. I take your point on jobbers though, I might start to build a collection of a handful in a...

    Drill bits

I have a useful set of drills in 0.1mm increments. I have lost or blunted a couple of sizes so whilst I am ordering from UK drills I will get replacements. I don't want a discussion on sizes or usefulness of size increments, I have my reasons for them! I mainly drill wood, plastics and fairly...

    3D printing in Woodturning

I bought a set of something similar from vicmarc. I think you probably saved the best part of a £20 note by printing those.

How not to make good use of a wolf drill stand

And when some of the bods say "ah I didn't expect that, it will go to a local charity", and occasionally you get one that just pockets the cash and closes the door with a vague statement about using it to redecorate the living room next year

    Extension

I think that this is why I value my extension the most. Yeah, sometimes i need to turn long items but generally it is getting the tailstock out if the way.
