    Wood glue

Pu is gap filling, in that the foam fills the gap. The foam isn't structural though, you still need a good tight joint.

    The ethics of tropical hardwoods

If you made yourself an item now out of a CITES species (old stock so no question of not being legal) is it going to be an embarrassment to your kids when you leave it to them when you die? Is it going to be like having a tiger skin rug, or an elephants foot umbrella stand?

    pH testing

Can anybody recommend a decent pH tester for testing garden soil. Ideally one that I can probe into the ground. It doesn't need to be super accurate I don't suppose. I believe that the soil is slightly acidic and would like to confirm, and monitor it from time to time. eBay and Amazon have...

2020 Secret Santa ......and we're off!

Santa was right- that tiny tape measure is useful every single day for one thing or another. I highly recommend everybody getting one to keep in a pocket with a small pen or pencil and a scrap of paper.

    Wood glue

I use tool station- just over £8 a litre. The titebond may well be better- there must be a reason that the pros use it- but I have found the overbuild to be good enough.

    Wood glue

well, if we can open up the discussion a bit. I am not a pro, but my go-tos are the everbuild d4 for general purpose gluing, or anything that needs a lot of glue. I struggle between autumn and late spring with temperatures, so firstly I tend to avoid big projects during that time, but if I do...

    Temperature & glue-ups

I dot know what temp PVA is supposed to need, but I have a feeling that it is a little more than you would expect. I know that it is possible to warm the joint up a bit with a hot air gun, but I haven't done this. [edit: 55F, which is 13C Titebond titebond original is 50 and TBIII is 45] I...

    Sorby Proedge Proset angle setter

https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/sorby-pro-edge-belts.86568/page-2#post-955069 last post is the one that you need. it is a nicely made jig, and is useful to be able to put the collar against the bench edge and hit a stop. I would suggest buying or making a jig rather than using a tape...

thanks nick. the extra couple of quid might be useful for an alternative colour than Festool grey.

    systainers

I was being tight and trying to avoid paying for 2! but yeah, I think that is the likely outcome. I might save a few quid and make an insert. not sure on the drawers. I dont think that they are deep enough to be efficient. The answer really is your fist suggestion.

    Kiln Dried birch logs?

depends what you are making. I dont see why you couldn't use them, but it is likely to be sized (I assume) for a wood burner, so by the time you cut usable pieces, it is only going to yield small bits. there are better options out there, but it depends a bit on what you want. when you say...

    Temperature & glue-ups

yes. I had to put together a desk yesterday, required for homeschool tomorrow. I used the titebond liquid hide glue. I warmed it slightly in hot water to thin it a little. went off nice and quickly even outside. PVA is a non starter for me after about October.
