I do the same. Benchdogs is a fairly small company and that has the advantage that they have some flexibility. They make a short version that fits into a sustainer, and also do the laser marking in-house. they may well be able to do what you want if you ask, ie a short length with scale on...

I keep meaning to try but I wonder whether flame polishing may work. It did wonders when I did it on an item off the lathe.

I like micromesh, but going through 5 grits of paper, then 11 of micromesh drove me to distraction si I would suggest going to 320g in paper of your choice then I use a polish. I can't recall the brand I have (farecela I think) but when I last looked it was either discontinued or had changed...

I don't know the machine but before you fit the new disc I would check the runout having removed the old one. I presume that there is a shaft or something behind it. Hopefully it is the old disc itself that is incorrect.

I don't know but it isn't the type of thing that I would expect to get from there. They don't do long axe handles either. Asides from fixings and such like, if it isn't draper, silverline or ronson the consumables are quite limited.
