    Woodford woodworking tooling

Not defending them/him, I have used Woodford once or twice without problem but that means nothing. I have seen numerous reports on here about communication and none of them are positive. I don't know about the state of the business, but I can imagine that they are flat out busy selling the...

Should I brace my table top?

the steel tops are drawn as slotted, but the ones that I have seen online are only drilled. Slotting is important, so you may need to find a way of doing it (eg round file).

    What tools?

I have never heard of Tung. Draper are not famed for their quality either. what tools are you looking to buy? I get the "stick with one brand" for cordless tools (in many cases) where they share a battery system, but not for anything else, I would buy the best tool for the job.

    Poker chips

I like the idea and Droogs approach, but I would do some research first. I had a read on google to see what was out there. I would get a length of dowel- 40mm or thereabouts in diameter and slice it at 3-4mm. If you turn it, it needs to be very accurate so the chips are identical. Play around...

    Screws VS nut inserts

thinking further, on your steel frame... what does the base look like? can you drill and expand the holes directly in the steel or is it tubular? Can you make the top of the base a plate and then drill/slot that? I was thinking more about wooden tops and wooden bases when I answered.

    Screws VS nut inserts

I have used the threaded inserts a couple of times for table tops to frames. It works fine and is my current preferred method (although I dont make many items, so dont read much into this). I haven't managed to find anywhere selling the tabs from anywhere though and they strike me as being a...

Speeding up sanding process (seeking advice)

how are you lifting and moving the slabs? Would something like an engine crane be useful rather than struggling?

    parf mk2 faff

I would suggest the Benchdogs rail square. cut at 90 degrees to the straight edge ever time, in seconds.

Speeding up sanding process (seeking advice)

I have seen some of these on YouTube, and admittedly many are USA based, but at least one maker (who does reasonable numbers rather than the odd one) pays by the hour to run them through somebody's wide belt sander when they are too big for his own machine. Is that a possibility?

Anyone use the 5 cut method to square up a crosscut sled?

40 thousands to a mm if that helps.

    What would you buy?

For a bandsaw, I think that you would attract the most interest being able to say that it is single phase, particularly on eBay. I don't cut metal but I haven't found a need to change speed of the saw on my wood cutting bandsaw- blade and feed rate are my variables. For other machines I can...

    Vise With Adjustable Angle Jaws

Yes, I think you may be right. The design looks like it would stop it pivoting how I was thinking.

    Vise With Adjustable Angle Jaws

I thought that I had seen a version where they moved/pivoted. I may be wrong though.

    Strange Request

I would be interested to see some pictures of your project. Your request would probably be a customs nightmare. I wouldn't know how to even start, but I don't have any pearwood myself so it is moot. Can you find anybody selling it over there and buy the cheapest, nastiest piece that they have...

    MFT clamping and legs

I use a couple of saw horses and a couple of pieces of CLS across them. for clamping the track, I use the screw clamps, I keep meaning to buy the better ones but always find alternative use for the money they cost. The bang good clamping elements get good reviews for horizontal clamping...

T track? What sizes / standards

be careful when you buy things like knobs. There are both M6 and 1/4", and presumably m8 and 3/8" out there in the marketplace. It probably doesn't make a huge difference to the track but it stops interchangeability between the knittings if you have both.

    This vice - what for?

I think it is a hobbiest table clamp. I have a bessey equivalent that I bought to hold things on my mft table top. It is not quite as restrictive as your corner version and is actually very handy. I wouldn't plan to use it for anything that requires an iron grip but it saves having to struggle...

    Caution - Banggood delivery charge

PayPal will ultimately have your back but I would speak to the company first. They will probably sort it out without tarring their reputation with PayPal, and if they are prepared to do so then fair enough.

    Caution - Banggood delivery charge

I find that delays are semi frequent but the vast majority of the items that go astray do turn up eventually. On the couple that I have had I have flagged with the sender and they have asked me to wait a while. After that they have replaced them without question, and in a least one of those...
