    Thread to Taper Adapter

I have never seen such a thing either. it is an odd arrangement for a lathe, which obviously doesn't help you if you have such a beast.

    How to make a hollow.

I lack both the machine and the tool! :-)

    How to make a hollow.

I have a spoon knife actually. I could always drill to near depth to reduce the carving.

    How to make a hollow.

it is a cutting board with a couple of recesses in it at the end. I quite like the rustic one but it doesn't suit this project.

    How to make a hollow.

Bear with me on this, I don't know how to best describe it. It I had a small workpiece and I wanted to put a depression in it, I would mount it to a lathe. I would then be able to produce a bowl which would have a perfectly circular hollow. How would I be able to do something similar on a...

Anyone have a good tool belt for general carpentry?

I never wanted a tool belt until now. I suddenly feel inadequate and I do have a bit of fencing to do soon...

    Clamp recommendations

The extenders are not cheap are they. I understand the price of the clamps but I had expected the simple extensors to be much less. Ideally I could use some 300mm and 450mm clamps, but nobody makes the 450s so I wondered about joining 2 300mm ones. Financially not really worth it, although I...

    Gardening multi tools

I am not so keen. The heads are ok, and the range is extensive but I don't have confidence in the handles. I have broken a couple in the past and although I used them fairly hard, I don't feel that I was misusing them. They both broke at the joint between the handle and the attachment point of...

    Glue for garden furniture

I was about to suggest the same thing. Anything really that will lift the end grain above the concrete will help, chopping board is a fairly cheap, fairly readily available plastic.

3m saw guide rail. How straight is straight?

Is it the rail or is it blade deflection? There have been a couple of posts on this recently, both on table saws and track saws. Could you put the track on a piece of ply, draw a line, them check the distance from the factory edge to the line in a few places.

    Evergreen bushes uplift

Even if they cherry pick it saves getting rid and some effort. Whether you charge him or not is up to you, it seems a nice arrangement where both parties benefit without payment. Cutting down stuff, and even digging out shrubs is less effort (in my opinion) than getting rid of the rubbish at...

    Evergreen bushes uplift

I imagine that they are quite selective with what they want. I suppose it is an interesting idea, because mature shrubs are expensive.

    Re-doing the Garden

where are you based, Hampshire is too wide an area to offer any meaningful suggestions. wickes you can see the prices online. I worked for travis 20 years ago and they were never cheap then, but it depended on who you were. probably changed since then.

    Re-doing the Garden

just have a look before you commit. I got some from somewhere which was about £3 a length and it was rubbish. I think it was B&Q and I got it to use as a base for a trailer because it was even reduced from that price. it was thin, probably finishing at 20mm. As a deck it would have lasted a...

    Re-doing the Garden

I wouldn't buy cheap decking. The price difference between the cheapest and reasonable isn't a fortune but the quality difference is a gulf apart. I can't recommend anywhere because the place I have used is local to here.

    Gardening multi tools

Depending also on the budget, but a mantis tiller is also very useful if you are starting borders from scratch. There seem to be plenty on eBay most of the time. My dad had been telling me how good his was for years before I bought one to do some borders and I have to admit that I agree. The (at...

    Gardening multi tools

Can't help on the multitool, but from memory the Leatherman one had several things that you would probably never need, like sprinkler adjustment tools. It depends a bit on what gardening she is doing. For me, I once spent a lot (compared to what I would normally expect to) on a pair of felco...
