    Sedgewick Morticer question.....

I second this advice as I've got one too. It's the same for all these Sedgwick models. You should not have to alter the factory set arm position - its designed to do what Deema says.

    Oak dowel

Hi I have tried to buy 3mm, 4mm & 5mm diameter Oak dowel rod in 300mm lengths to no avail. I used to buy it from Axminister Tools Appleby Woodturnings. They no longer do them. Does anyone know where I can buy them from or would any of you be interested in making me some please? Very happy...

    1st router table

Good job and well done. Just a few thoughts. To help with reducing chip and dust going everywhere. Put a shelve underneath the router and cover the sides. At least they will be reasonably contained and help with cleaning up or make a box with vents to surround your router that is bolted to the...

    1/2 router recommendation

Like with any tool, two fundermental questions should be answered. Is it built to a good engineering & quality standard and will the manufacturer support it propely even when its older and out of warranty? Some have already suggested Elu routers and nothing wrong with that. For those that are...

    What's your Router Plane Style

I've got an old Record one which is does a splendid job. If I was to buy new it would be one that is engineered to the Records standard or better. Most I've seen and had a go with, are not good and reflect on where we are with some of the manufacturing standards of today. It does seem that you...

    Trying to find...

In addition to what's been said, what about buying a new clamp assembly from current make/model, that is as close as you can get to what you have, then get a fabricator to make you an adapter plate that you can fix to the clamp and bolt the whole assembly to the mortice table. The Sedgwick...

Compact chip extractor for lunchbox thicknesser

I would think this through carefully if you want to succeed in having an effective extraction system. Getting an effective workshop dust extraction system is not easy but you can get close provided you do your homework and get the right kit. Buy a Dust Extraction book. It will certainly help...

    Outdoor table top? Which wood?

As already said Iroko is good and so too is Sapele. Cupping is always a potential problem if you don't use well seasoned straight grained wood. Obviously the fault will worsen as the wood width increases. If you go to a good stockists you could probably pick some out. You may get away with 45...

    Guide rail help

I'm not familiar with Dewalt saws and their tracks. Someone in our forum might know. Failing that you could contact Dewalt direct and if no joy Trend make a 2.4 m guide rail (their is a joint piece that you be undone to enable you to use one of the 1.2m tracks). They also do a universal...

    Which extractor to keep

Table saws are one of the best machines to give you an indicator as to whether or not your extraction system is effective - just look inside the machine case to see if it is retaining dust - There are so many obstacles that will slow down air flow and as you move the saw up or down or tilt it...

Workshop Lighting, mixing warm and cool?

Not sure about cool and warm terminology. I have a 6m by 12m workshop that has not got enough natural light. I fitted 600x600 LED panel lights (these ones are termed 'Daylight') over the entire length of my workbench and surrounding area. The remaining areas have flouresents with Daylight...

    Bandsaw Buddy

Your right I've just spotted it's an old thread. I spotted this today in the New Posts believing it was current - why was it in a new post section when it's old?

    Bandsaw Buddy

I bought one a few years ago and to be honest it's a cracking bit of kit. It makes setting up the fence a very quick and easy job. It has two sufficiently strong magnets and their is a recess for the blades teeth to go in. It can deal with blade widths up to 25mm and any aggressive tooth...

Cleaning / caring Saw Blades and Router bits

Reference sharpening, like some have said; diamond stones, matchbox size, work well - just a couple of strokes on the blade flats before use is enough. I find better results coming from holding bits in the vice. Reference cleaning blades and bits, I have used good quality glass cleaner for...

    Wanted 5/8 Bevel edged chisel

I'm looking for a good quality 5/8 bevel edged chisel. Ideally a Marples one with split proof handle. Not worried about having to re-hone etc but I don't want one with pitting or corrosion. Thanks

    Jigsaw blades

Starrett are v.good. Most are M42 standard meaning they don't fail or blunt when you hit a nail. They are very accurate too. They do a very handy Wallet with a range of blade types in it which is very good value. I've had mine for 6yrs with good use and still going strong - never had a blade...
