Seized pivot pin on wadkin AGS 12

I would take it to my local engineering company and for a small fee ask them to press it out using a power press. Some garages have these to. It's a simple process and they may use heat as well but as the casting is supported properly there is less risk of damaging the casing - which you will...

Drum sander for finished Kumiko panels

I've owned a Axminster st480 for a number of years which is spot for what I do. Some of the best drum sanders are made by Supermax (American). These are rebranded when sold in the UK. Mine is really a 19/38 Supermax. It's sanding width is 19inch, normal, but can sand up to 38inch but you have to...

looking for recomendation of an affordable 6" combination square

Totally agree Peter. Combination sq's can be hit and miss for accuracy hence why I've suggested you test them before leaving the shop. I tried several before I got one that was correct. It's clear that manufacturers are knocking out equipment that is not always accurate. I've stopped buying...

    Track saws?

We've all been here and guilty of buying budget tools and paid the price. For me save up and buy the best you can. Accuracy, longevity and ease of use should be at the top of your thoughts. Initial tool price is not everything. Good luck

looking for recomendation of an affordable 6" combination square

Take a look at Stanley combination and set squares. Reasonably priced. Nothing wrong with these but do check them for accuracy before leaving the shop.

So, what is the best moisture resistant mdf?

Put simply there isn't any MDF that is totally moisture resistant. No matter what the manufacturers tell you. If these type of products are placed in moisture environments they will eventually fail in some way. Best advice is keep any manmade woodboard away from moisture environments.

Concealed Hinges with wide angle for inset doors

Take a look at Cranked hinges. There are various types but many do allow full access to the cabinet when the door is opened and the door is flush fitting. However, they cannot be adjusted like a conventional Euro cabinet hinge. The better ones are more expensive but long lasting.

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

Sorry, what I told you earlier relates to cast iron. The Alloy surface plates picture on the right looks fine so no need to go any further. A coat of wax should suffice to finish off.

    Wanted Record 146 holdfast collar

Axminster do a collar for just under a £5 for their Holfast. I can't say it will fit yours for deaf but it looks close. Call their Tech help line and you could be lucky.

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

Clean up most with rotary brass brush then use wd40 with very fine emery to finish off. I use Garryflex Abrasive cleaning blocks for all my machines and tools. They are great and handy to clean up surface rust and contaminants - use them with wd40 and you will have a factory finish. Nothing...

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

As I thought and its all you can do. Just be mindful that this machine is old and the spring tensions will vary on each one and my guess is they will have lost some tension over their life. If they do bottom-out pack them with thin washers/shims.

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

As I thought and as you have said, these are pre-load adjusters. In order for you to use the machine successfully, these will need setting correctly. I do not know what the initial setting is. I would give Dave a call at DB Keighley based in Leeds. He was a Kity agent and undertakes repairs...

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

I have never disturbed mine as had no need to. It's good that they offer adjustment but the down side is you need to sus out what the pressure needs to be as this is important to get right. There has to be reasonable pressure otherwise it would not pull the wood through but importantly you...

    DW 720 radial arm saw

This subject was discussed in detail by a member call Scrit. Given what he discussed with Dewalt, I think you should read the thread. Just do a search on Dewalt 720, it may save you the hassle

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

Sounds like your making progress. A good rotary brass wire brush on a drill should sort out the surface rust. Ref the in and out feed spindles. Do not put lube on the surfaces where the wood will pass - when in use they will be self cleaning. Put high melting point low viscosity oil or grease...

    Kity 1637 Planer/ Thicknesser stripdown.

I have it's bigger brother the 638 they are very similar. I'm not sure why you are thinking this needs to be fully stripped and rebuilt. Unless you can find a particular problem I would have thought a thorough check of everything would be a good way to go and deal with issues that come along...

Is this the cut you’d expect from a 4 TPI bandsaw blade?

Never seen anything as bad as that cut. Yes you have something wrong. Given what you have said I would start from first principles and make sure everything is correct and set up correctly (nothing wrong with Mr Snodgrass and his ways I do it and have never had an issue). As Robin says, get...

    drill press

If you mean drill twist bits you will not go far wrong with Dormer. One of the very best and can be used on wood or ferrous material. Fisch are good for wood twist drill bits, Augers and Forstner type bits.

    drill press

If your definitely maxing at 40mm then anything with 500w motor should suffice provided it has a good range of speed change. I think you might struggle to get a new machine for your budget so second-hand would probably give you a better machine so long as you're prepared to sort out any issues...
