The language is mutating (and always has done)

Doesn't the rest of the UK have a say in that - or is linguistic imperialism okay in some circumstances? 😉

    Joke Thread II

Not if the photo was taken in Crete 😉

    Joke Thread II

Wouldn't work too well with those Cross-Pond Colonials and their funny pronunciation.....😉

    Drill stops

That's a nice change - tools and accessories are usually more expensive here but those are only the equivalent of around £4 without any "discounts"....😄

    Joke Thread II

Actually there are 11 types - you forgot those who repeat things that people have already mentioned (several times) previously.....😉

I love tasteless jokes - do you know any? 🙄

Hacks to help cope with the heat

That would need a very big pot or a very small room. Clay pots have been used to keep things cool for a VERY long time and the air coming off a water-filled pot can be up to c7C cooler than the surrounding air, depending on the conditions. However as the water evaporates the humidity of the...

Hacks to help cope with the heat

You better believe it. From the road (and garage) level to the top floor is 77 steps...😢

Hacks to help cope with the heat

I recommend our "anti-heat hack" - we live in a house on the side of a mountain. It's not a hugely-high mountain but there are ski slopes above us and the snow usually lasts until the early summer. It's usually around 7C cooler up here than in the city below, but of course commensurately colder...

    I did a big mistake

May not help much in this scenario but the usual approach is slosh some oil on cotton wool/cloth/kitchen roll etc and wipe away. I'd be inclined to stick a dowel in your drill, wind some cotton cloth around it (making sure you wind in the direction that won't let it unwind in the hole), put...

Scary stuff if this is real

No electricity? How about turbines powered by politicians' hot air? 😎

Scary stuff if this is real

The problem with what you're saying is that the majority of humans are likewise not intelligent, can't think very fast and don't make decisions based on any discernible logic. I'm far from convinced that "we" have the upper hand - I suspect that's just what they want us to think... 😎

    I did a big mistake

Try olive oil - where I'm from it's even used to remove beach tar......and it certainly does the job on that! 😁

how much energy does a 3Kw oven use?

Here in the Wild East, the neutral and "earth" pins in wall sockets etc are just connected together.....

    Joke Thread II

It may be photoshopped but I've seen just as weird and wonderful things in my neck of the woods......

    Middle of Lidl

I have 3 sets of the Lidl tracks. Mine don't stick at the joints, so I can't add anything useful on that score. I certainly store mine as separate pieces but that's convenient for me as I had an unused gap between one workbench and an adjoining storage unit. I've just checked the Kompernass...

    Middle of Lidl

I have that saw (or perhaps an earlier model). I bought a couple of extra tracks from Kompernaß (one of the many upsides of living in the EU 😉). I use the Makita rail clamps, not much more than the cheap cr*p ones you can find on sale - I find that I'm not happy with just friction to hold them...

    Passport renewed

I'm currently in the process of starting to apply for a new passport. You're probably wondering what "starting" has to do with this relatively simple process, so if you're sitting comfortably then I'll begin (the Oldies among us will remember hearing this expression regularly). I was born...

    Middle of Lidl

Not being a victim of Br*x*t, I can just order tools (and many other items) on Lidl's online shop in Germany and have them delivered. Not gloating, you do understand....... ;)

Confession. I have a Parkside problem!

That chainsaw is a nice bit of kit - I like mine a lot!
