    Tool Choices

"I've got a combination square - wasn't particularly expensive and I don't think quality or accuracy is that great. I did splash out on the Woodpecker TS600 which I love and Incra right angle and mitre squares so I am reasonably confident I can measure accurately. With these, would I still have...

Slightly unorthodox test of Festool TS55 Rail saw

I have been following this thread with interest (what a good laugh) Dare I say if it was any other make like Bosch, Makita etc. the reaction would have been a lot different. Maybe something in the line of: "I told you so". Did his video put me off? not at all I will be buying the TS55 in the...

Thanks for that info The quill has definitely the male taper and the chuck the female taper. This is what is stamped on the old chuck: CVA, Made in England, 3T oap or could be dap, 0 - 1/2.

This is where its getting confusing and then I am in no way an engineer #-o . There a lots of these drills about with Jacob chucks which would suggest that it is indeed a JT. But then some literature suggests that they had MT2 tapers But thanks for the advice about the bearings Marcos. I had a...

    Meddings Drill Tru

Thanks for all the replies. I did remove the chuck with wedges but I needed to make a couple of spacers because the gap between the chuck and the quill housing was to great for the thickness of the wedges. I will replace all the bearings, the chuck need replacing too the jaws are quite warn...

Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

Hi "Today I spray painted all the bits, bar the aluminium fence." Out of interest are you using 45mm x 95mm extruded aluminium for the fence?

Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

That's the way to go, if I do find the time I will build a t square style fence for mine. These Startrites do lend themselves and is well worthy of an upgrade to a much better and easier adjustable fence like the Biesemeyer and its clones. I have a set of plans that I can email to you if you...

The £140 job from Woodpeckers is the best. I have one and it was money well spent because of the accuracy you save money in the end

Startrite 275 saw - Shaft lock?

There should be a hole in the table to the left of the blade, you insert a tommy bar or screwdriver through the hole into a hole in the shaft to hold the shaft while loosening the blade. HTH Jan

    Treatment of lumbar disc herniation?

I was in a similar position 4 years ago and after careful consideration and with a lot of input by the consultant I opted for the surgical route (the consultant favoured surgery in this instance). In my case the keyhole surgery was a huge success, I was free of pain within days after the...

Dedicating a router to a table - idea needs fleshing out

"Having said that i believe the Dewalt 625 is a straight copy of the T11 with a slightly different base, so mechanically should be just as good". Wrong it is just the other way round

Help me spend £20k on a small joinery workshop!

I do agree 100%. This is the best way by far to go ahead with your idea as there are nothing really worthwhile close to you other than Felder. In your situation forget about Wadkin, Robinson, Sedgewick and Startrite, although excellent machines you are far away from spares and technical help...
