    Router table project

Top for my router bench is 2 x 18mm ply, glued, and then I covered it with a sheet of tufnol to get a smooth surface. Used the same top in the previous attempt (see my thread about the rebuild) and it works really well.

    Router Bench

Nice! (y) Can you build me a fence as well, 600 mm long? ;) Just kidding, but normal work is keeping me a little too busy at the moment to have any fun with my own project...

    Router bench

Bit of a standstill on the project, as I first have to sort out all the screws, nails, nuts, bolts and washers I have accumulated over the years... it's a right mess, but am slowly getting there, with roughly 65% done! Feels like sacrilege throwing away some of it, but then, what am I going to...

    What happens now?

I've got a limited company, and am allowed to claim £18/month for "home office", which is not a dedicated room purely for working. If it was, I could actually work out the proportion of the office room to the rest of the house, and claim that portion of the rent. Maybe dig into it, or ask an...

    What happens now?

Regarding the properties, maybe convert them (properly) into accommodation, and relieve the housing shortage?

You know the world is moving fast when....

Oh no! I hate doing stuff on the phone, the screen is way too small! I have a 28" screen in front of me, FFS!

    And BREXIT Bites

Good to know! Won't recommend it again  I've got Norton VPN as part of 365, and that works as advertised.

    And BREXIT Bites

Have you tried setting up a VPN (NordVPN seems to work fooling Amazon) and then watch the rest of the season? And my friend in Poland reported the same issue, also suddenly and without warning...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Did initially think to not even draw it out, but then started to space out the shelves on the uprights, and something didn't look right, so went back inside to use trusty SketchUp, and I'm glad I did, as my arithmetic sucked, I missed 10 mm 🤣

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Was tired of the drinks packed/stored all over, so knocked this together quickly... not a show piece, but it works 😎

    Retrospective shed insulation

Renting as well, hence my shed is modular panels, 90cm wide, bolted together, each panel insulated as a whole... not ideal, but it works, and will be easy to break down and take with me

    Retrospective shed insulation

I used "Xtratherm PIR Rigid Insulation Board" followed by 18mm OSB, and it works really well

    Changing Times

Telephone nostalgia! Grew up in South Africa, and when visiting my sister on the farm, they still had those winding telephones, where you would pick up the receiver, listen whether anybody was busy, ask "Line free?" to be sure... then replace the receiver, spin the handle, pick up, and...

    Router bench

Testing... Adding brackets... And assembling Flipped over, and yes, it works as expected! Storage position Pulled out before flipping And in operational mode Much more stable, no front legs needed And stores away in a 600 x 300 foorprint! Next, add latches for...

    Router bench

So, after the last post, I went back to the shop, and had something like, wait, this still takes up way too much space when operational, and I will need to move stuff around too much! Back to the drawing board... (or in this case, SketchUp) Came up with this design, with the first picture...

    Changing Times

Happy 2021 everyone! We're all doomed to repeat history, until we have it properly documented, and learn from our mistakes...

    Staircase treads...

Place I rent now had a glossy white paint, which was really unsafe, so simply added thread carpets. Landlady is happy with them, and refunded me for the effort.

    Workbench Design

Welcome to the club  I have one hole right on top of the piece of wood that supports the vice, i.e. it's now just a shallow hole rather than through hole. At least I can still put a dog in there, and use it to clamp stuff with the vice

    Replacing Screws

Bit off-topic with regards to the question, but you're working on what I hope to in the new year  Anywhere I can follow the progress on this conversion?
