    Why are some router tables made up of cast iron but not others?

    my first router table had a rather flimsy surface, but it was "cheap" Router weight caused it to sag excessively 2nd one had a more substantial table, but after a few years, weight caused it to sag too! same for 3rd one.... Never had that problem with a cast-iron table!!!

    from my forensic cript of moisture info..... client calls me in to recaulk a shower in a vacant appt as thw baseboard around it was flaking off paint, and looked water damaged.     Oh ya...I'm looking at this, and kinda envision that the leak is around the stem of the valve, , and with my guestimated age of that valve, I would not be suprised if the packing around the valve stem is old/worn-out and needs replacement, which is an easily done and inexpensive fix...

    As far as I know, different mfgrs had differentpatterns on their wedges., and from my Dryburgh (Scotland/Canada) when planes were shipped it was in nocked-down, with arts labelled. for correct assembly such as in this photo Them thar pencil marks are likely pushing 100 years old.
