    Medici Auricular Picture Frame WIP.

I live up north, so we have A LOT of pine and spruce. Up here oak is fancy (and expensive!) southern wood. My father in law brought me a part of a spruce log from from his forest that is very dense. And if you look for it you can usually find some nice boards among construction lumber. However...

    Medici Auricular Picture Frame WIP.

I love seeing stuff like this. I am also fascinated by the use of spruce and not linden (is that what is called basswood).

    Well used plane iron?

I would have a lot more respect for Sellers if he would just say: "I am not very good at this, so I do not try to teach anyone about subject xyz. You should check out this guy/gal, he/she knows how to do this." This is just like when he tries to make spoons or work with green wood. The results...

    Well used plane iron?

For just the money spent on the torch he uses you get 5 or so replacement irons from Ray Isles. So the claim from Sellers that it is "economically still worth doing" is just plain weird.

First Workbench Build - Unique design

Looks very similar to this bench from the 19th century. https://hyvelbenk.wordpress.com/2015/11/12/hyvelbank-i-tuna-kungsgard/

    Quality Froe

For splitting small stuff you can also use a splitting knife. Or just get a ordinary Mora, like this one with a slightly thicker blade, put the edge against the kindling to hold it in place and whack it with a piece of firewood on the back to split the kindling.

    Quality Froe

Probably forged from a billet as you say. Here is a pretty video showing how they make their axes. From steel to axe.

The problem is that most rich people do not get their income as salary. They can even have very low salarys and get their income from various arrangements of capital.

One of the largest problem is that in many countries (especially here in Sweden), wages are taxed more than profits from capital. This basically means that the rich are taxed less and the poor more. It also distorts the economy and leads to an ever increasing financialization where resources are...

Rememb Yes, basically. And also financing repairs of existing streets by selling land for new development.

Loans for consumptions (often what is basically toys) is an insanity that western society has turned in to an predatory industry. Talking about fiscal laziness. Working as an urban planner I was shocked when I understood how streets, roads and infrastructure is financed in the US. Reading the...

"I hear people talking the language of participation and justice and equality and transparency. But then almost no one raises the real issue of tax avoidance. And of the rich just not paying their fair share. It feels like I’m at a firefighters conference and no one is allowed to speak about...

Here in Sweden we just suffered through one of the most stupid elections ever. No ideas, no visions no serious reforms. A lot of jabbering and cheap arguments about being tough on crime. One thing that drove me nuts is the "debate" on the skyrocketing price of electricity in the southern parts...

    Quality Froe

Pgbrff linked to the gränsfors hatchet above (in swedish all axes are called axes unless you go in to ones used for making logs for cabins or executing people), to my mind they are more useful than a froe, with the caveat that I have never used a froe for firewood. I am pretty sure that the...

    Quality Froe

Being Swedish I of course think ypu should get the gränsfors axe, they are beautiful tools and come sharp enough to use. Dull axes are dangerous, which my left foot discovered when I was around nine or ten years old. For really small kindling a basic mora knife is always useful, just whack it...

    New Router Plane

The blue spruce chisels are probably not cheap to produce. I would imagine that a lot of the cost is to finance the machinery for lapping and such. The question is; if you are going ro spend that much to produce an expensive chisel, have they spent the money on the right thing and are they...

    New Router Plane

    New Router Plane

Made on China by Hongdui the website says. Cheaper to buy a Lie Nielsen or Veritas from a Swedish retailer for me if I ever start lusting for a router plane. In fact it is cheaper for me to get the LN or veritas rather than a used Stanley from the UK. However I do not have the knowledge to say...

Black and White property paint choice

Pine tar mixed with turpentine, linseed oil and pigments make a beautiful paint. The Finns also makes shampoo with it. Smells lovely.

Black and White property paint choice

Nope. Do not even use Allbäck. I prefer Ottosson, Wibo or Selder. Never had any problems. Linseed oil paints are a proven technology. Sorry to hear that it hasn't worked for you. Your story sounds very strange. I have never heard of anything like it. I have painted all kinds of things with it...
