    power belt file?

..I got a "cheapie" silverline from Amazon under £30 (I think)..I have found it a really useful tool to have around. Would not be without one now. Silverstorm 247820 - 260W 13mm (½") Power Belt File 230V

    Mitre Saw Stands?

+1 for the Lidle / Aldi stand. I got the Aldi one for approx £40...very happy with it.

    Aldi bandsaw back on line.

As per the title. I posted last year asking if this was a good buy and after the positive comments I ended up buying one. Great piece of kit as long as you don't expect to cut 4 inches of oak. I have used mine for the last year mainly to cut hardwood to repair a rotten conservatory. It has...

    Bandsaw shopping, £600 budget

Personally I would always prefer Record of Charnwood. Record seem to have the edge on Quality when I was looking. My choice for that sort of money would be the Record 300 with wheel kit and extra blades...

Mystery over a Charnwood pillar drill

Hi, I have one of these, (purchased about 3 years ago). I would not buy another as there is a design flaw in the "gearing". There is a central pulley wheel that allows the 2 belts to be moved up or down to change speeds. The problem is that it is only supported by a very thin piece of plate at...

ALDI have got the table saw. Again

..I got the Aldi Band saw last year, and for the money it has been absolutely brilliant....that is its been loads better than the alternative, (ie no bandsaw)...would I buy one if I was a "professional / heavy user ? definitely not.....would I recommend one for a one off project / light DIY...

    10" Mitre Saw

..sorry, you miss-understood. I take the saw off the stand and store it on a shelf under the bench, (but I leave the brackets attached to the saw). The stand then slides under the bench as its only about 9 inch tall when collapsed.

    10" Mitre Saw

....I leave the saw attached to the "brackets", collapse the legs of the stand to fold it flat, and store it under my workbench..only takes a minute or two...

    10" Mitre Saw

This looks like the same saw stand that I got from Aldis for £40 for my Metabo. https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-yh-ms0 ... /15762#_=p

    10" Mitre Saw

Hi, I got the Metabo KGS 254 M...it was on a price drop on Amazon for about £200 when I got mine in 2016. As for the Aldi stand...it just appeared on one of their "specials" one day when I happened to be in so appols but I can't find a link. (Its good quality and was only £40..)

    10" Mitre Saw

..after many hrs looking for a new mitre saw I ended up with a Metabo....seemed to offer the best "quality" for a reasonable cost. (I wanted a Makita, but the later ones have had a few bad reviews, and after trying a few in various shops the "rail bearings " felt really "gritty"). Only...

    what mitre saw

..I had this dilemma a couple of years ago.....looked at a wide variety of offerings, most of which got ruled out for various reasons. Ended up with the Metabo 254. I needed something a bit larger capacity than my old 205mm, and something that was not too heavy and had a depth control. So far I...

    Disc sander

..I spent ages looking for a disk or disk/belt sander. Eventually I took a friends advise that has got the 300mm record and got one. I have not been disappointed it's a great bit of kit and well worth the money. I did consider the cheaper Charnwood, but much prefer the cast iron base. I would...

    Aldi multi purpose sharpener...any good?

Hi all, note that Aldi have a multi sharpener for £15 coming up. Is it worth buying? (I struggle sharpening chisels as I am not very competent) I was sceptical about cheapo tools, but their band saw for £80 has been one of my best ever tool purchases... thanks for any replies
