Hi, in answer to your question I would say you tend to get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with cheaper saws especially for very occasional use, but do not expect the accuracy / robustness of the higher price models. For me I would want the largest diameter possible to give the maximum cutting...

Hi, and thanks for the updates. I do like Metabo stuff, I replaced my old mitre saw with a Metabo and have been really pleased. The Metabo bandsaw seems to offer a slightly smaller cutting height, but a slightly larger throat cut, and its over £100 cheaper!....I will have to find one "local"...

I got one of these...Silverstorm 247820 - 260W 13mm (½") Power Belt File 230V ...off Amazon for about £30. While maybe not "best" quality it has been really useful. I would not be without one now...one of those tools you just keep finding uses for once you have it.
