    Mitre Saws

Hi, in answer to your question I would say you tend to get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with cheaper saws especially for very occasional use, but do not expect the accuracy / robustness of the higher price models. For me I would want the largest diameter possible to give the maximum cutting...

    Yet another best bandsaw question?

Hi, and thanks for the updates. I do like Metabo stuff, I replaced my old mitre saw with a Metabo and have been really pleased. The Metabo bandsaw seems to offer a slightly smaller cutting height, but a slightly larger throat cut, and its over £100 cheaper!....I will have to find one "local"...

    Yet another best bandsaw question?

Hi and thanks for the replies, I will carry on with my research but it looks like its a record at the mo. I will check to see if there are any shows coming up as they normally offer a discount for show purchases .. :) ...

    Yet another best bandsaw question?

Hi all, I have decided to upgrade my Aldi bandsaw which has given truly excellent service over the last few years. I have decided to go for something like the Record 300, ie a budget of £600. I looked at Charnwood's equivalent, which although cheaper seemed to lack some of the Records quality...

ALDI Track saw - extra track

Hi and thanks for the info. Looking at it (PL55), I think you are right. Seems a shame that the only extra track I can find (E-Bay) is £45 which is only a few quid less than buying another complete Aldi track saw!!.... (Not sure how they can justify £45 for 1 piece of track?...but there you go...)

ALDI Track saw - extra track

Hi all, after my recent "success" with an Aldi band saw I have taken the plunge and got myself an Aldi track saw, (my wife won't let me own a circular saw...or a chain saw for that matter). I got it as I have been informed by SWMBO that "we will now be fitting new interior doors", and thought...

    Mitre saw advice

Hi, I was looking for a mitre saw a few years ago and weighing up all the pros and cons I decided Bosch too expensive (for the saw I wanted), DeWalt, just too expensive, Makita, poor quality reviews, so ended up with a Metabo as this seemed to offer the best value for money. (I am only a...

    Power belt sanding file

I got one of these...Silverstorm 247820 - 260W 13mm (½") Power Belt File 230V ...off Amazon for about £30. While maybe not "best" quality it has been really useful. I would not be without one now...one of those tools you just keep finding uses for once you have it.

    Aldi/Workzone Palm Router Review

A good review thanks. I got the Katsu from Amazon which although cost a little bit more at £34 but seems to be far more robust with a metal body, sleeve and attachments, (and has variable speeds?). I have used it quit a bit and I find it really useful. It comes with some useful extras (all...

Grinding wheel and tool sharpener - Scheppach TIGER2000S

Hi all, I am looking to get a grinding wheel to help sharpening chisels etc. Just wondered if anybody had any experience of the Scheppach TIGER2000S as a tool sharpening system and could comment as to whether it is any good or not..or any better alternatives? Many thanks for any replies..

    Aldi angle grinder

Hi all, ..never had one of these 9an angle grinder), but I think I should add one to my toolbox. Just noted they are doing them at Aldi this week and was wondering if they are worth a punt or should I spend more?..I do not have an immediate need, just thought I should have one just in case...
