    Scheppach Baso 3.0v v Charnwood W730???

...how is your search going?....I am now erring towards the Sheppach but would like to see one "in the flesh" before I part with the reddies! ..Like the look of "Jet", but can't find a dealer anywhere near me...

    Scheppach Baso 3.0v v Charnwood W730???

...it wouldn't be so bad if Record charged a reasonable price for their "made in China" cheese, alternatively happy to pay more for better quality...and I agree that some Chinese stuff is fine, its just so variable as they obviously have no quality control, so you may "get lucky" and get one...

    Scheppach Baso 3.0v v Charnwood W730???

...I have started looking again. 3 years ago I got a basic "Aldi" 8inch bandsaw that has been really good for the odds and sods I needed to do at the time, (fitted a Tuffsaws blade and it really does punch above it's weight). However I have started looking for something larger, (ideally 12...

    Belt and disk sanders

When I was looking I was a little put off by the actual working area of the disc, (as per above, VERY small), so I ended up getting a Record 300mm disc, and for me this was the right choice. Although due to a recent Record quality issue on another piece of kit I am not sure I would recommend...

    Mitre Saw

..I ended up with a Metabo after a long time looking. A good quality / cost compromise...very happy with mine, no regrets so far!

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

..I recently purchased the smaller record wet grinder after returning the Aldi version due to really poor quality. I got the record one as I was happy to spend more money for better quality. However after 30 mins it packed up. I took the cover of the bottom to find a really cheap motor with a...

    Disc Sander - any recommendations?

..I always thought Record was a "better quality"m but I recently got their wet stone disc grinder which packed up after 30 mins due to the motor falling apart. (Returned for refund). Really disappointed as in general I did like Record stuff and was about to buy a bigger bandsaw. But after this...

    Disc Sander - any recommendations?

..I was going to get the cheaper belt / disc sander combination but I ended up getting a record 300mm Disc only sander. I think this was the better choice as the actual working area of the disc is far more practical. (ie a 300 mm disc gives a far larger working area than a 150mm disc). I looked...

    Aldi Ferrex Wet grinder

..my main problem is getting ride of any "heavy" damage first. I have an old grinding wheel but find it difficult to get the initial (25 deg) angle prior to starting the honing process?

    Wet stone grinder

..interesting, had a look at the reviews for the Jet system, and almost 20% split in each category on Amazon? (ie 20% for all 5,4,3,2,1 ratings...very odd mix?!)

    Wet stone grinder

Hi all, After my recent problems with both Ferrex and Record 8" wetstone grinders just wondering if you could people could recommend a suitable alternative? (Understand I will have to pay more if I am to get reasonable quality)... As already suggested I have got myself a new oil stone and some...

Hi and thanks for the advice...I have got myself some cheap diamond plates (£12)....I already have a honing guide. I will give it a go!!

    Aldi Ferrex Wet grinder

..OK so I got the Record 8inch wetstone grinder, it arrived a couple of days ago,it worked for about 30 mins then stopped!...very disappointed as generally I like record stuff, and was just about to get a new bandsaw off them. I guess it's the usual lack of quality control in China. Not sure...

Anyone tried Axminster’s Black Friday ‘Perform’ bandsaw?

..looks very similar to the Aldi bandsaw, but this one has a better table, (Aldi is pressed steel). I have the Aldi one and I am always singing its praises, (for what it is, and cost about £70), and I did fit a Tufsaws blade. Probably no good for "major" work, but has done me well for the odd...

    Aldi Ferrex Wet grinder

I decided to return it today. Very disappointed with the quality. If it had been £50 or less I may have kept it as I am sure it is capable of "doing a job" with a bit of a fettle. I note that the Scheppach unit (which appears to be basically the same) does seem to have some slightly higher...

    Aldi Ferrex Wet grinder

Hi all, took the plunge and ordered the above which arrived today. I have been a fan of Aldi DIY stuff, OK I accept the quality is not top notch but you get what you pay for. Their small bandsaw has been great and punched above its weight. I also had the track saw which has been good, but the...
