    Lucky me. Blade advice

...Tuffsaws...no brainer...just got one for my record BS300...originally set up using the "stock" blade and got nothing but "curves", set up using Tuffsaws blade and perfect 90 degree straight cuts... ..also got a cheap Aldi bandsaw, got a new blade from Tuffsaws which transformed it...and still...

Ideas for a new workbench please?

Hi all, and many thanks for all the replies and ideas. I like the idea of a "portable/folding bench as I think this gives a good degree of flexibility. I think I will go with a small "fixed" bench to support my drill press and sander, then a larger "portable" bench that can be used for assembly...

Ideas for a new workbench please?

Hi Spectric, and thanks for the reply...you are right, I had not thought about the problem with bits falling through the holes! The above ply table looks great if you are repairing Chieftain tanks?! ie very solid but very heavy. I have been searching 'tinternt and the chap from...

Ideas for a new workbench please?

Hi all, just about to complete my next shed which will be around 12 ft long by 8 ft wide. Not exactly huge, but planning to use it mainly for woodworking. Could anybody advise a good DIY design for a workbench? (I like the look of those with the holes in to enable a variety of clamping...

    Band saw or table saw

..different animals really, so I guess it depends on the type of work you want to do? Form me I went bandsaw but that was mainly that I don't have the space for a table saw, and I don't really trust myself with one! As above a good compromise could be a bandsaw and a track saw?

Bench Grinder for plane blades and chisels

I brought an Aldi "wet stone" grinder (looked identical to the Scheppach), a couple of years ago for £80, but it really was "low grade" so I sent it back and got a Record version assuming the extra £60 would make it better quality, but that failed when the motor casing split after 5 minutes...

    New bandsaw...decision made

Hi again all, Tuffsaws blade arrived today, so just spent another happy hour or two setting everything back. I picked up some useful tips which I was not aware of in the above vids, so thanks for posting them. Everything seems to be working OK, but I have not cut anything "big" yet! Already...

    New bandsaw...decision made

Lower rear guide pics. The top pic is looking down (table removed), into the table trunion mechanism that supports the rear bearing "bar". This moves forward to allow the bottom back bearing to be pushed just behind the blade, (lower picture). In the top picture the bearing support bar is almost...

    New bandsaw...decision made

.....ooops soory, yes the upper support is all part of the same assembly which can be moved as one block, I actually meant to say the "lower" back support. This mechanism is built into the base that support the table and trunion mechanism and has a lot of travel, but all in the wrong direction!

    New bandsaw...decision made

..Hi again, just been googling this, and popular opinion is that it doesn't really matter were the blade sits on the bottom wheel so I will leave well alone! Still not sure why I can't get the upper "back" guide to sit near the blade though?...I may give Record a call, but not sure there is...

    New bandsaw...decision made

Hi and many thanks for the feedback. How do you change the alignment of the lower wheel?

    New bandsaw...decision made

OK back to the bandsaw. Now fully set up and running but noted a problem withe the lower "back" tensioner. There is insufficient travel to get it close enough to support the blade? I noted the bearing is 22mm dia, but the "spot face" on the mounting bar is considerably larger....just wondering...
