Can you recommend a disc+belt sander for under £150 ish?

..what a brilliant bit of kit..not seen anything like that before....

    Mini circular saw

No kickback problems so far...plus you can control the depth of cut quite easily....not all that "heavy" either....(I normally work on the principle of always buy the "next tool up" from the one you think you need...

    Mini circular saw

I recently purchased the "larger", (WORX WX427 XL 700W Compact Circular Saw ) mini saw...absolutely brill...It was on Amazon for £115 odd...but every so often it "drops" to about £85..(I just put it on my wish list and waited a few weeks until the price had dropped back down). A really nice bit...

Can you recommend a disc+belt sander for under £150 ish?

I spent ages looking at "combination" sanders (ie disk and belt)...but I felt the disk on the smaller (cheaper ones) was too small, and the general quality was poor. Ended up spending £170 on the 12" Record disc (only) sander..(reduced at a show)...good decision..no regrets.

Advice for a replacement sliding compound mitre saw

Metabo have some good prices at the mo for both 10 and 12 "...they only "tilt" one way, but they have trench cut (assuming you need it), and laser. I understand the quality to be OK....I am torn between one of these or the higher (much) priced Bosch. I have seen some bad reviews about Makita...

Mitre saw Bosch GCM 10 SD

Hi, ..yes I did consider a Makita, but there was a really "damming" review posted on this forum somewhere recently suggesting they are of "variable" quality. I had a look at one in local shop and must say the "sliding travel" felt very "gritty"....so a bit put off Makita really.

Mitre saw Bosch GCM 10 SD

Generally not that impressed with Charnwood stuff...a bit too "budget"..made in China. Seen them at shows and they just don't seem to have the build quality. Still looking like the Bosch at the mo...will try and find one to look at first..

Mitre saw Bosch GCM 10 SD

Thanks for the recommendations....love the "glide" version now I have seen it, but way over budget. I did have a peek at the smaller 8" one, probably a lot lighter, but no double bevel, and no front adjust for the tilt..so will probably go with original choice....anybody how "portable" it...

Mitre saw Bosch GCM 10 SD

Hi all, anybody. Looking to upgrade my aged mitre saw. Have been looking for ages and I am now considering this one. A bit above my original budget of £300, but seems to offer all I need. (10" double bevel. Amazon reviews look good, just wondering if anybody had one and would you recommend? Thanks

Screwfix Titan TTB598MSW sliding compound mitre saw

I am not sure if this will do left AND right bevels ?, (does not say it can in the spec..). It is certainly cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. Probably OK for "rough" (non accurate) work, and being 210 dia, the depth of cut will be a bit limited.

    Small plunge saws

I recently bought the worx 700 watt mini saw for £80, (..its normally about £120+..but every so often in drops to about £80..if you wait long enough), and Worx stuff is normally pretty good from what I have read... https://www.amazon.co.uk/WORX-WX427-700 ... orx+xl+saw.

    Bench sander

..get the record 12" disc sander..and if purchased at a "show" will be about £170....great piece of kit. Spent ages looking at disc / belt combos, but all the "smaller" ones did not look that good.

    Ryobi EMS254L

Hi Peter, ..and thanks for your comments..I accept I am probably being to "picky"..just that my next mitre saw will probably be the last one I buy as will hopefully be retiring soon and I am trying to get together a decent set of tools before the income drops! My last saw was a "refurbish" and...

    Ryobi EMS254L

..the latest reviews I have seen on this web site for Makita are pretty awful....so had given up on them. I did buy a couple of Bosch products a while ago as I assumed Bosh was "quality"...but they to seem to have given up on quality and gone down the "chinese cheese" route in search of higher...

    Ryobi EMS254L

ta for the feedback..another one off the list then....I will see if I can find someone who has a Metabo....they look pretty good..(at least in the pictures)...

    Ryobi EMS254L

ta..just been looking at their website...red or blue?...

    Ryobi EMS254L

..I did take a look, but to be honest I have never heard of them!...(mind you I had not heard of Metabo before either....or Erbauer!)..the search continues......

    Ryobi EMS254L

ta for the replies..yes I think the Metabo is now top of my list...but could not find any reviews...I will have another look. I have no problem spending some more money, just seems to be a big jump from budget, (most of which seem to have had some problems reported), up to Dewalt.

    Ryobi EMS254L

..thanks for the Dewalt re-manufactured link..but I think they are all DWS778 models, (no trench cut facility.. :( )

    Ryobi EMS254L

OK ..back to the drawing board...NB ref "best"..am looking for something up to £300..ideally 255 diam, with trench cut...every time I think I have found the right saw, a review pops up to say its "junk"...I guess the problem is they are all made in China..so you may "get lucky"..or then again...
