    My Garden Room Build - 9m x 4m

Yes, only 4 BBQs in our empty nest. I've sold two since that photo and swapped over to a better looking ugly drum smoker. Bought 2 more to upgrade the collection 😁 Might sell the portable gas one that was an impulse buy in a B&Q half price BBQ sale. Bit of an obsession. I BBQ all year round...

    That looks excellent. Well done!

    BucksDad Workshop Build

Another thing to bear in mind is sheet materials for some bizarre reason are 8' x 4' (2440mm x 1220mm) so make sure you do the studwork at 16" or 24" on centre, or you'll find you'll need to cut every board. Check the sizes carefully because some stuff, comes only in metric! I think I ordered...

    BucksDad Workshop Build

AIUI it is that simple. Insulation on the inside of the OSB makes it a cold roof. It'll need suitable ventilation. I made a mistake with my (over-engineered) shed and put OSB on both sides of the insulated studwork. I'd copied a couple of builds I'd followed on YouTube. That was before I...

Nostalgia - Jack Hargreaves - Out of Town, Old Country

He'd be mortified if he saw the state of the rivers today. It's scandalous.

They must be having a right laugh

My perception of Russia and Russians has swung back and forth. I've seen them on holiday in the past where them seem to be the most miserable people on Earth. I saw their organised football hooligans up close at the Euros in France, smashing their way through families on the terraces. That was...

They must be having a right laugh

I'm all for having a small navy but let's make sure it's modern, effective and fit for purpose.

They must be having a right laugh

I've watched it and it is interesting but embarrassing. I'm hoping it's a double bluff to lull the Russians into thinking we are incompetent. They had fire, flood, power cuts and ran out of sonar buoys.

    Which Dehumidifier?

Had a quick look at PIV. Looks simple to install. I thought it might take the outside air through a vent in the wall. Surprisingly it just takes the air from within the loft space. A lot will depend on how and how well the roof space is insulated. I can see how it works with a cold roof but...

    Which Dehumidifier?

I have this one Meaco Arete 25l It is not a desiccant type. I'm disappointed with it. It has reduced overall humidity in the house and made it feel warmer and noticeably drier air. Unfortunately, it hasn't cured the condensation on the bedroom windows (single glazed wood framed). It ran for...

    My Garden Room Build - 9m x 4m

I put a Screen with Envy panel in my BBQ shelter to fill an opening.

    I love being retired.

Retirement bliss hits a bump in the road this week. The wife has given up her part time job. 😩 I suspect my time is going to be managed for me and the 'Honey do' list is going to grow. No harm in getting a little more encouragement I suppose but might need to find more things to do outside the...

    Lining a workshop/craft room

That's right for timber sheds. The OP said the garage is built into a hillside and has been tanked. Need more information about the wall and roof construction. Tanked walls are meant to be a vapour barrier.

    I love being retired.

I just tell people I've finally found something I'm good at.

    Cladding query

Lined my shed with OSB then painted it white. On reflection I might have gone for ply for a smoother finish. If I keep reminding myself it's just a shed then OSB is fine but it takes a few coats of emulsion to cover the rough surface and the pin holes.

    I love being retired.

I'm going to call it the Honey Do list for now on! I'm loving retirement, two and a half years in. Doing things you enjoy at your own pace. Procrastinating. Wasting hours reading stuff on forums. It's great. Trouble is, wife has now decided to pack in her part time job in December...

    Abandoned car

I agree it doesn't ring true but I can't find any definitive legislation on it. I agree the spirit of the law is it can't go on the public highway. Irrespective of location it either needs to be taxed or SORN in which case DVLA should have been interested. If the car had been left there for...

    Abandoned car

Motor Traders have an exemption but only if stored (until sale) on their premises.

    Abandoned car

But in the table they provide it says not in a garden or car park. I'm trying to find the law that supports that. Car Park open to public makes sense. Garden seems a bit weird.
