I can beat that. I had a kebab that cost me £650 That was in the days when clamping and towing was allowed. Legalised extortion. Standing in the kebab shop and saw my car going past behind a tow truck. Took the parking company and the 'landowner' to small claims court. Won by default, neither...

+1 for this. Very helpful guys on here to help with private and council tickets. I've used the site many times, mostly on behalf of family and friends. Went to London Tribunal a few years ago to help a family friend. Lost the case and they got a parking ticket during the hearing :ROFLMAO...

    Virgin

That's very poor. Did they not suggest ways to boost the WiFi? It's not unusual to have dead spots and there are always solutions. Their Hubs in Router mode are notoriously poor. I run mine in modem mode with my own router. My Wifi works throughout the house (including loft conversion), the...

    Virgin

Not much recently because I’ve been reducing the package. When I had the full blown VIP package I could get £15-£25 a month loyalty discount. New customers get the best deals with hefty discounts for 18 months. I have a 1Tb Tivo and a second V6 box. Today I asked for an upgrade for the V6...

    Virgin

Same here. I still have an NTLWorld email address. I run my Virgin router in Modem mode and have my own ASUS router for Wifi and Ethernet connections. I have had an extender kit when No. 1 son was gaming in his bedroom. He's now in his own flat with Hyperoptic Gigabit fibre connection -...

    Retirement options

I retired 21 months ago, aged 61 after 44 years in IT related jobs (never a programmer). I could have carried on forever if I wanted to. Not hard to find other interests if you work in IT :) Covid has impacted plans but I've done a Thames Discovery Programme FROG volunteers course. I've...

    Retirement options

A 9-5 job is not my idea of retirement! Retirement definitely needs some planning and some ideas of what you want to do. Sounds like your options are carry on working, do less work, do different work. It doesn't sound like retirement. Nothing wrong with carrying on working for as long...

    Problem with pitched roof gap

Getting the foam trimmed and then sticking the EPDM to it is likely to be tricky. Why not just fix strips of 11mm OSB/ply/treated timber on either side so the edges join above the gap. Yes, there will be a step but it shouldn't be a problem if you use the contact adhesive. With ply or solid...

Sounds ideal Deema. A stimulating environment, opportunity, respect, recognition, qualifications, great leadership.

    Unexpected Blog Post on Apprenticeships

Makes a lot of sense. Presumably written or influenced by a baby boomer who knows not everything has changed for the better.

    Harvesting wood by myself

Was watching Escape to the Country recently where they had a slot featuring a local business. It was a guy farming eucalyptus for firewood. Fast growing. No doubt there are tree planting grants or subsidies for this sort of thing.

    Blocking mice?

We have lynx here in London. Quite common. They do stink though.

    Blocking mice?

We've had mice on and off for years. Definitely recommend steel wool. I plugged a gap where water and waste pipe come through the wall. Mesh over air bricks also worth installing. Tried retail poison and different traps and I know it's controversial but glue traps work best.

    Central Heating

    Presumably another thermostatic mixer valve.

    Central Heating

So using logic (and no heating/plumbing experience whatsoever) I can't see the point of mixer valve for the radiators. Only makes sense for the hot water storage which needs to be cooler than the radiator circuit. Just use the boiler stat to set the radiator circuit temperature. Is the pump...

    Central Heating

They certainly don't make them like they used to! Must have put it there for a reason but can't understand why you heat water in your boiler (using boiler stat to set temp) then cool it down by mixing it with cold water. Makes more sense for the hot water cylinder where you want the water a bit...
