    Mortise & Tenon

That would be fantastic to dovetail them in, master cabinet maker skill set a must! I could probably do one, but unable to adjust the angle (and I doubt you could with a dovetail on the other end from the shoulder) then I just would not have that skill level

    Mortise & Tenon

I have just went back to the methods i have used in the past, stupidly time consuming, think I spent 5 hours today getting the joints correct - there has to be a better way, I would love to see a cabnet maker of yester year do these legs, had to of had a better yechnique Getting the tennon cut...

Advice on drilling large holes thro ply.

I agree this works quite well, although you do need to drill the waste holes very accurately so as to just touch where your hole saw will cut (on the waste side obviously) best to have a a bit of waste material sandwiching what you are cutting to get a good finish - drilling / cutting holes...

    Mortise & Tenon

if the bucket had a diluted PVA in it (6:1 , 10:1) I wonder if the wood would shrink back as much (I feel an experiment coming on)

    TV advertising quality!

I'm not sure if TV advertising is at all relative to myself as a white straight middle aged bloke. Th advertisers are clearly aiming at multicultural and same *** relationships - I guess that is where all the money is now.

    Mortise & Tenon

i think its finished as a commercially grown timber - but lots to be reclaimed. the stuff I'm using is from some old school lockers that I rescued from a skip - all free

    Sharpening hollow mortice chisels.

How do you keep them cool when using, I find I get tremendous heat build up. And I have seen chisels others use and they can be very discoloured with heat,

    Mortise & Tenon

It has a M12 through the centre - helped clamp it together then come in handy for the lathe, and will eventually give it great strength. Although saying that, its Pitch Pine and it doesn't split that easily along the grain luckily I have access to a proper morticer (probably from the 50s)...

    Mortise & Tenon

Is that the standard way of doing them - certainly sounds easier. Although in the unusual way I am making the centre leg it would mean using a chisel across the grain

    Mortise & Tenon

May as well ask while I'm here. I have three of these legs to fit onto a 100mm Ø main leg. Obviously I am going to have to get a nice fit for the rounded edge so will have to faff for ages with chisel and sandpaper - is there n easy way - any thoughts would be most appreciated, I have done...

    Mortise & Tenon

I have used the following before with some success but wondered if it would be frowned upon as a technique - (basically i wonder if the tenon could burst the mortise) When both the mortise and tenon have been created and the tenon is has been made (on purpose) just a little too tight. squash...

    Wood burning - Lime

I would take it too, chop it into smaller chunks and mix it in with other woods, by the end of the night its gone. and that heat was free.

    Speed Awareness Course

and can you switch it off / disable it ? If so then it has no value whatsoever to road safety. It will be a bit like the 20mph speed limit (we have had that for over 2 years now) The good drivers who were never a problem when it was 30 are now driving slower, where as, the idiots who never...

    Speed Awareness Course

Yes, but they need to be a legal requirement, not a 'you can use it if you want nonsense. As for sign recognition, ours has that and it is very poor, it also has a habit of recognising any wide-ish modern single carriageway road as 70mph. i pointed this out to mercedes but to say they...

    Speed Awareness Course

if a manufacturer can only make a speedometer 90% accurate, then their vehicles should be automatically limited to 90% of the speed limit - I'm sure the likes of mercedes and Audi would soon be selling cars with 100% accurate speedometers, their custmers would not be happy being stuck at 63 on a...

    Speed Awareness Course

I was more thinking of a smart type device that would know exactly what road you were on and never ever allow any speeding ever. Probably be best when the entire car is ai controlled - too many people arejust mentally not suited to it, like to drive fast and suffer from road rage.

    Speed Awareness Course

isnt it incredible that within all the space age technology that is lavished upon our cars, they still have not worked out how to monitor its speed accurately. I wonder how many people have ever said to the salesman, how accurate is the speedometer? The sooner automatic speed limiting arrives...
