    Vacuum Chuck

Looks like it's measured in thousands, as other sites list it as "5Pa/0.05Mbar" 0.05Mbar == 5000 pascals 0.05Mbar == 1.47 inches of Mercury So still pretty far off 10. Are you sure it needs to be at least 10? Even the £300 vacuum pumps still say around the 5Pa mark? some even less.

    Vacuum Chuck

Yep, it has a hollow spindle. It's the Axminster 406 if it helps.

    Vacuum Chuck

I'm thinking of purchasing a vacuum chuck setup. I currently don't have a compressor and have no real need for one, so instead of going the Venturi route, I plan on just getting a vacuum pump as they're much smaller and less noisy. I also have plans to do some wood stabilisation at some point...

    MFT tops

I think there is a market for someone on ebay (or ideally a simple website) to produce MFT tops that allow you to choose the hole layout. Nothing complicated. Perhaps just a grid of the original holes with checkboxes so you can draw out the pattern you want. Granted it would cost more as then...

    Bandsaw blade flutter

I know the blades are twisted, I mentioned that in the first post. So I think I have the same situation as you, an error in the way they're being folded. :(

Plunge saw - battery or corded?

I've heard a few cases where the battery saw is actually more powerful than the corded version, I believe the TS55 is just one example. I have the power cord attached to the extraction hose, so it doesn't really make a difference for me. The battery is also one more thing to get in the way, so...

    Bandsaw blade flutter

So are we saying that even if the blade is twisted, enough tension should straighten it out? so even if it did get a little skewiff as I was coiling it (usually takes me 2-3 attempts :P ) that would be corrected with tension? Yep, it was used for cutting bowl blanks, not many, maybe 6 or so...

    Bandsaw blade flutter

    It's a BS300

    Bandsaw blade flutter

Why would it be OK with new blades then? Even new blades that are wider and would require more tension?

    Bandsaw blade flutter

Pretty sure it's not tension. I have wound the tensioner until it's almost too stiff to turn. Far more tension than I normally would feel is appropriate.

    Bandsaw blade flutter

It's not the bandsaw setup as it works fine when the blade is new. It's only after I have stored it for a while and then use again I notice that the blade is twisted. And yes, the flutter is very noticeable even after the blade is tensioned. As it's constantly switching from pointing left/right...

    Bandsaw blade flutter

I do it this way, then add a bit of masking tape to keep them from uncoiling. Definately enough tension.

    Bandsaw blade flutter

I often find that when I take my blades out of storage to use (swapping to a different TPI for example) that there is a very noticable "flutter" where (when looking from the front of the bandsaw) the blade teeth go from being oriented to the left to oriented to the right as you spin the wheels...

Discrete angle stops for the One Way tool rest?

I was just wondering if anyone had modified this jig to add discrete stops for common angles? ideally every 5 degrees. Currently, I use the black marker pen method to dial it in, but when you're constantly changing tools, it's a bit annoying and time consuming. I've also seen people like John...

Using a mitre gauge flipped 180

So imagine taking the mitre gauge out of the slot, flipping it 180 degrees, and putting it back in the slot. Such that instead of the fence of the gauge being behind the cut, it's in front of the cut. Assuming the piece being cut is clamped to the fence, is there any safety concerns with...

Correct way to fit frame fixings

I've already done it now as I described at the end of the post. It was more of a ... on reflection, did I do it wrong?

Correct way to fit frame fixings

https://www.screwfix.com/p/easyfix-frame-fixings-10-x-135mm-10-pack/15978 What is the correct way to fix these? (the screw type, not the hammer type) Lets say you're attaching a 4x4 timber post to a brick wall. Do you : - Drill hole into fence post so the screw freely moves, but with little...

    Fire pit grill

" As others have mentioned you need to cook over embers not a flaming fire. You'll also need space to burn more wood down. " That was actually going to be one of my next questions. With charcoal, you can just add more as you need it. But with an open fire that has died down and you're...

    Fire pit grill

I'd just be cooking typical BBQ food. Burgers, Sausages, chicken thighs, drumsticks, jacket potatoes etc. Nothing fancy. The reason for not just wanting to stick the grill on top of the 'pit bowl' is to make it easier to adjust the temperature, but more importantly, I've noticed that fire pits...
