    Oxyturbo kits / lead welding

The Smiths Little torch is worth a look at if you have a good bank balance… Mainly used for jewellery making, but great for small lead work.. Be aware that There are loads of counterfeit kits for sale, on both EBay and Amazon. These look identical, but definitely are not,…the gas fittings do not...

    Pillar drill not true

I’d check with a square, that the table is 90 degrees to the drill bit….very commmon for them to sag a little…it’s a good idea to put some sort of Jack under the table to get it true and stay true when drilling, as some move slightly under the pressure of the drill, especially large ones…

    Dam% Damp

It is a spray bottle, and will cover a decent area, but for a large area you may need something more heavy duty, like a hozelock sprayer… I’d Google suitable solutions for killing the mould

    Dam% Damp

I totally agree, but I was thinking maybe the leak has been there for some time….culminating in the final disaster…

    Dam% Damp

HG, do a lot of mould removing products, available in spray bottles and foam from B&Q etc… My concern would be the cause of it… Has the mould been caused by the leaking water? Is the garage attached to house?…does it have any heating,…is there any ventilation..etc. Borax Powder mixed with water...

How did you learn to turn?

His point is obviously he managed to master it without any aids like YouTube etc.. Probably by ready those strange things called books… same as anything new, it’s practice, practice, practice… A retired colleague recently bought a lathe having never used one before….he’s now regularily turning...

    Oxyturbo kits / lead welding

The Model O torch (BOC) is the one used for lead work, but then you need flashback arrestors, regulator’s etc, which gets a bit expensive. The Bullfinch and Sievert propane torches are ok with a fine flame and lots of practice…get some tallow for flux… The Model O torch gives a very controllable...

    Drilling stainless steel

Have you tried a split point 4 facet bit, preferably cobalt? Much better than standard ground bits on stainless

    Shortening a router bit

A picture always helps… I presume you want to shorten the shaft by 3-4mm. As previously mentioned, itll be too hard for a hacksaw to cut through… You could use an angle grinder to remove the metal, or if you have decent bench grinder, it will take off that amount in no time. Just keep turning...

Is this your model? I think it’s used for calibration as apposed to being used as a marking gauge
