    New Toy

yes, it's 20 years old. It has alarms on the legs. I always make double sure the pads are very well supported. One good consequence of being scared of heights is being paranoid about the pads being on stable ground using additional material below the pads on grass. My one also has movable...

    Repointing using lime mortar

That's great information. How much did you mix at a time? can you leave the mix overnight then knock it up the next day?

    I wish I had a Pecan tree 😁

😁I'm sure it would be a nightmare of health and safety/risk assessment with local authorities if I set up a giraffe dental practice, or tried to use it in a public place.

    Repointing using lime mortar

A big thanks!! I just did. They are local to me, prices look very very good and they have a fantastic range of products. I would just go for the premixed. I can take a sample stone along and match the colour 😁

    Euro 2022 final

She was away ahead of her time. I likes some of her popular stuff when I was young, but thought some of her other music/dance was a bit odd at the times, but I was more into rock music. Watching the show, I gained a whole new respect for her performance. There was one bit of music and dance...

    New Toy

I like the Fordson Major, it's what I drove when I was young. The sound of it when pulling a few tons of grain up a hill.....fantastic!! I did find a short term solution for moving the cherry picker in the garden. I just used a rope and my endless chain to pull it into position. A bit slow...

    New Toy

I'm scared of heights. The cherry picker will fit through a double door, so I might be able get it in the house. probably cheaper than a stair lift.

What is the most chatoyant wood?

I have seen that effect, but had no idea it was a recognised property of wood. Fascinating. Thanks

    Lets talk hedge trimmers.

I use the Bosch advanced hedgecut 70. I'm just on my second one after years of use from the first one. It still works fine, but getting blunt and more noisy. The Bosch is an excellent machine. Easy to handle, it has a 70cm cut, 34mm cutting capacity and a 'sawing' ability. This allows you to saw...

    Greetings from Italy

Welcome to the forum, from the middle of Scotland. I had to Google wood chatoyance to find out what it was. Look forward to seeing some of the things you make

    Repointing using lime mortar

Is the choice of sand to get the colour right, or other reasons?

    Repointing using lime mortar

Thanks, That's what I wanted to hear. I was afraid it was a real dark art and if you didn't do things right it would fail early.

    Repointing using lime mortar

Thanks, I'm planning repointing parts of an old house, so the colour is reasonably important, but not critical. I think some kind of white sharp sand may be suitable, or a mix. Is there a brand of sharp sand that you could recommend? My fear was that I would do the pointing, then 6 months later...
