    I don't believe it!!!

As expected, my Marketbook search started working again using my own ID, but very hit and miss, so still not working properly, but See what a absolute bargain I found!!! A young lady in Glasgow advertising a site selling these. This is the thicknesser I've been waiting for. What a bargain...

    Chuck question

According to the part number, that is a Pratt Burnerd standard accuracy three jaw 80mm chuck. Dates from 1992 onwards. You have the outside jaws on the chuck. Do you have the other three inside jaws? The logo is missing from the chuck and it would have had a warning label, hence the two...

Good reason to leave your table saw guard on

Thanks. It would have been my preference to fit a riving knife, but because of the design of the saw, it would have just ended up as a splitter which looked like a riving knife. It has to be fitted to the table, so it was easier to just add a wooden splitter. The saw can take a 14 inch blade. I...

    Mitre saw blade

Yes, have used Saxton blades in a Evolution saw. They worked fine. Also used an old TCT blade for cutting Aluminium. If your saw came with a multipurpose blades they are a bit of a compromise, they cut steel very well when brand new, but I never found the finish on wood was great. Get a good...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Not made of wood, but for working with wood. I was lucky to get some scrap metal recently. A telecoms equipment rack, a rooftop antenna mast, and some heatsink blocks, all aluminium, so I made an adjustable support roller. I just used the bottom of the equipment rack as it was, complete with...

Good reason to leave your table saw guard on

Thanks, I meant the blade and fence are in line. The guard is offset and based on the original design. There was a hole in the table to fit it. I did look at fitting a riving knife, but it wasn't possible without more effort than it's worth, just nowhere to attach it. You tilt the table to...

    Is this an eBay scam?

Sounds very like a scam, Pay for something on-line using a stolen card, then return to another stolen card they have the pin number for and take the cash out at a machine. If it's for small amounts they might be able to do it often before the card(s) are cancelled

Good reason to leave your table saw guard on

I made a guard for my wee saw. It's made of steel, 20mm steel rod on the upright, 16mm square on the support and the guard is 3mm welded steel. It's pretty basic, so is the saw, but so far, it has behaved very well, but I spent a lot of time adjusting/shimming everything to get it in line

    Amazon Revises Liability Policy

An interesting article here and here. It seems that "Amazon will directly compensate customers for valid claims of property damage or personal injury caused by third-party products sold on its platform, up to $1,000, or more in certain situations."

Do civil servants and others in London still get a 'London weighting' because it's more expensive to live there, so would it not be reasonable for people in remote areas all over the country get some kind of 'weighting' for living in remote areas? I should get a wet weather payment added to my...

    Metal supplier

I buy a fair amount of steel and have a local supplier. They are happy to sell to the public, but have a minimum order around £100. The metal is supplied in 4 to 6m lengths, but the supplier has a cutting bay for customers, so I chopped it all in half and loaded into the back of the car. I had...
