    COP26 progress or same old

I don't think you are missing anything. CO2 levels and temperatures did fluctuate in the past, but eventually stabilised. for about 10 thousand years. In the last 100+ years, the CO2 level has increased more than anything seen in the previous 800,000 years.

    COP26 progress or same old

To get those levels, I think you have to go back 500 million years. What has been highlighted is that for thousands of years the CO2 level stabilised around 300ppm. At the same time the temperature of the earth stabilised, climate stabilised so humans could predict weather patterns, sow seeds...

Oh dear!!!! Some of the posts on this thread are examples of the VERY worst in human behaviour. Rude, ignorant, arrogant, intolerant of others people's views.

Have you had your booster *** ?

Had my booster and flu *** yesterday evening. Done by Air Force staff. Got both in the same arm, but probably not the best idea. When I got the flu ***, it forced a lot of my covid *** out of my arm. Slight sore arm today, but apart from that, feel OK. The second Covid was worst. Wife and I felt...

    What do you collect

I have an alternative theory. As long as I have things that 'I'll find a use for one day', I'm fine, I'll wake up for another day. The minute I run out of them, or throw the last one out, I'll drop dead on the spot! So far the first part of my theory seems to be holding out. I'm not going to...

    COP26 progress or same old

From here. Might be a bit out of date, but it gives an idea, China's total CO2 is 9.8 Billion Tonnes, so over a fifth is consumed outside China.

    What do you collect

I used to collect coins years ago, then photographic equipment, but now I collect all sorts of stuff that i think will be useful. I have difficulty throwing some things out. I'm like a squirrel. I put things away because I might find a use for it and I usually do. Sometimes after 40 years!!!

Advice on quietening my Boxford Union Drill

Are you sure that is the correct length? it might be too short and would be difficult to fit the belt. You need a bit of slack to fit the belt, then adjust to the correct tension. According to Lathes.co.uk it should take a standard A section belt, these are easy to source in different lengths...

    DeWalt cordless drill hunts

You have probably tried some or all of these? Try with a different battery to determine if it's battery or drill. Problems like this are often caused by a faulty switch or controller. When it hunts, does it do it at full speed, or any speed. Does it do it in reverse? Have you inspected the...

    Bench Drill Advice

I have an old Meddings MF4/3 floor standing drill, quick change belt with gearbox. If you can hold out for a good old machine, you will never regret it. I do quite a bit of metalwork and the Meddings has handled everything I have thrown at it. If you find a three phase machine, depending on the...

    COP26 progress or same old

Hopefully getting back to the discussion. Some figures I find interesting and possibly quite worrying are that Global CO2 emissions were cut by about 6.4% in 2020 compared to 2019 as a result of the pandemic. However if you look at the measured value of CO2 in the atmosphere the 6.4% cut in...

I'm not familiar with that machine, but are the pulleys tight on the shafts? does the noise reduce when you load the drill?

Cutting through ceramic tiled worktop in situ.

Angle grinder and diamond blade will easily cut ceramic tiles. You could use a wooden baton as a guide, or your suggestion of making something to fix to the grinder. I would put some tape on the cut line to reduce the ceramic surface splintering. It helps a bit. A lot of dust, so have someone...

    Wanted Myford ml8 lathe bolts.

You could just use normal bolts and a ratchet. Not quite so handy, but it would work fine until you found the real thing. Edit:- Look here for exploded view and part numbers
