I was chatting to the hacker via facebook messenger What they did was send a request to reset the password on MY account. They then sent me a message via facebook from my nephew's account which must have been hacked...

cheap PVC flexible ducting for extraction?

I use it on a Rexon DE1000A extractor which had an identical spec to the Axminster AP50E and it works fine. It's on a bandsaw and a mitre saw. When I'm using the mitre saw , I just flatten the ducting going to the bandsaw. When I'm using the bandsaw, I cap the ducting at the mitre saw. Crude...

    How do u keep ur's.....?

I just coil the cable round the tool, tuck the plug in and shove it on a shelf. As long as you don't strain the cable relief, it's OK. When I uncoil it, I make sure I take all the turns out. Never had any problems.

It will be the same all over soon. People trying to reduce their fuel bills. I tried to get a scavenging licence from the Forestry Commission, here but they have to do health and safety assessments for the sites and it will take a year. I'm just going to plant some trees. will be quicker. It's...

    Joke Thread II

another old one. Man walks into the doctors. There's a frog growing out of the top of his head. The doctor says "Oh!! That looks terrible". The frog says " I know, it just started as a boil on my bum this morning"

    How long?

You will get lots of different opinions on here. I have the BS 350, using Tuff Saw M42 1/2 inch blade. I never de-tension the saw. If you do, you have to tension it, then open the door and give the blade a turn to make sure it's still centred on the wheel. I haven't had any problems.

    Reclaimed flooring

try here I have used them for general reclaimed timber. They also sell on gumtree when they get batches of flooring in. They are just 20 min from the house. I'm not sure how their prices compare for oak flooring, but certainly worth a try.

Solar panels: do they save money?

no, agreed. I did look at a 8kWp system but according to the calculator, lifetime net benefit was only £193. I'm sure it would perform better than that, but in my case I would be better spending some of the £10k installation cost on reducing the heat loss from my property.

Solar panels: do they save money?

Doesn't FIT come from a green levy paid for by other electricity users? many who struggle to survive and can barely buy their own electricity. I don't think that is fair.

    BA Threads

I hadn't heard of CG&T, but have seen Matrix dividing heads. Things of real beauty. I looked up the company. What a great British engineering company. I see the company opened a factory in Brechin Scotland in 1939 to supply the war department. That's just 7 miles from where I was born.

Twist drills - HSS, Titanium coated or Cobalt?

in the past, I got the 5 pack HSS bits from Screwfix, they are very good, you can also get a trade pack, but it's mainly 2 to 4mm I use most. I also have a good set of cobalt drills for more demanding drilling and a set from UK drills. 1 to 13mm in 0,5mm steps.

Did you buy any cheap tools that surprised you with being actually good?

I bought a cheap pair of pliers 45 years ago. They are still may favourite general purpose pliers. They fit my hand perfectly, nice grip. They have slackened off slightly, but still work well. Made in the USSR. I have two small nailers from AldiLiddle which lasted years. They did eventually...

Is there any trick to make unscrewing easier from old wood?

I think using a pancake style induction heating coil might get the screw or nail red hot and burn the surrounding wood enough to slacken it.

    BA Threads

That's really cool, it's frying my brain :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: but I love a mystery. I don't have any answers. I don't know much about threads, but I do know about Standards. and how they work. If I ever have the need to derive the Major dimension from the pitch I would use a look-up table based...

    Treating wood on outdoor furniture

This year I tried this it was a reasonable price from Amazon and goes on very easy with a paintbrush and good coverage. I find treating garden furniture one of the most boring tasks in the world so I want it done quickly. This stuff was very easy to apply especially between slats. It dries...
