    The moon

Have you seen the new book, Apollo Remastered Andy Saunders spent 10 years examining, scanning and enhancing the pictures taken on the mission. He has managed to squeeze an amazing amount of extra detail from the original negatives.

    New thickness planer tripping electrics

I think that could be due to where it hits the AC cycle when you turn it on, could be 0V or peak or anywhere in-between, so instantaneous current will vary.

    Rod bending

I buy mine from either Alexanders or F.H. Brundle. Metalcraft also do steel in handy packs, a bit more expensive, but a good selection in more convenient sizes

    The moon

Its a stepping stone to go to Mars and beyond. To boldly go where no man/woman (other genders are available) has gone before. They will also be able to explore other areas of the moon. Possibly commercialise what they find. Watch out for the price of cheese to plummet!! Did you see how fast...

    Wallpapering

It would stretch quite a bit, which was handy for really uneven walls. I tore very easily once on the wall. It was easy to strip, but came off on really small pieces. Very 70's patterns.

    What got you started ?

buying an old house, having to do a LOT of work on it over the years Living through 15+% mortgage in the early 80's and 9+% inflation of the early 90's. I decided that if I could buy a tool and it would be cheaper to do the job myself, then that's the way I would go. We did woodwork, metalwork...

Do any of you sharpen your own planer/thicknesses blades? How?

I just checked a set of blades I have ground quite a bit to remove nicks on the edge, there was 3g difference between the blades. I also checked a new set of Wadkin blades. There was 1g difference. I don't think 3g will make much difference, considering the force of impact as the blade...

    LED lighting advice for carving?

I think you need very good even light, for working, but have an articulated 'spot' light to move around to create shadows. It would be handy to be able to vary the brightness of each source to change the balance. varying the colour might give some interesting shadows, but not sure if it would...

Do any of you sharpen your own planer/thicknesses blades? How?

I tried making one with wooden blocks, but I don't have a suitable saw. The 3D print, was just a try and see how it would fit, but I found three spacers held the blades firmly. I used to spend ages hand holding with a diamond stone, until my fingers and wrists ached.
