Getting paid to work on your own home

Ask the tax office. They are normally very helpful, assuming you can ever get anyone to speak to. Tell them the reason for doing it. I always found it's best to be 100% up front with them.

    Toddler Bed Advice

I just made a bed for my grandson a couple of weeks ago. The bed was designed around an Ikea mattress. I just bought the slats from Ikea. They are curved and fixed together with tape. Made from 9mm ply on 12cm spacing. £20.

    Time for a new blade

It looks like a very good blade and gets very good reviews. I'm surprised no one has come back with info on a suitable blade for aluminium. You need a different tooth geometry than for wood, but I don't really know what's best. I know the Freud cuts aluminium quite well because I cut the end...

    Battery charger help

I checked the Part number. G60-12F4 is a generic part number for the charger for LiFePO$ batteries. but it seems to be available with a variety of connectors. All you would need to know is the voltage and current. The charger would do the smart stuff. This makes interesting reading, but I am not...

    Battery charger help

It says 'Power Unit', which is not a power supply unit. It is a bit confusing, It is not just a simple 14.4V 3.3A PSU. It is UL listed which is about the best safety certification you can have. They would insist in differentiation between a standard PSU and a intelligent charger unit, so they...

    Time for a new blade

I have an earlier version of that saw and use the Freud LP60M 96T. It has a 2.8mm kerf. I get a really clean finish with the blade, but have had a tooth come off when a small offcut went under the back of the blade. I lifted the saw too early after doing a cut. I have had the same blade for...

    Generator question...

Was just going to suggest something ( pipe curled up in the fuel tank) but I see you have already eliminated that, but just check it hasn't moved again. Are you sure you don't live on a bad slope and the brick just levels off the generator?? 😁

    Contents of engineering firm, Nottingham

I was at one in the late 60's. The fire extinguisher was for sale (remember the cone shaped ones you filled with water and put some kind of gas cartridge in it). The assistant held the extinguisher up in the air as the auctioneer started the bidding, then he put it down, a bit hard on the...

    Battery charger help

According to it's part number it is the actual charger and does the pre charge, CC, CV and cut off. It is peculiar to call it a 'power unit (for LiFe PO4 Battery)' But I think that is to prevent confusion with a standard 14.4, 3.3A supply.

    Battery charger help

G60 12F4. You can get an alternative source of the charger. It seems to have OK safety approval. Not UL listed, but not necessarily a problem. It has CE, cTUVus which is accepted as an equivalent to UL listing. You would need to find a distributor.

    Concrete cut out in shed

Well, I've made someone happy today, so that makes me happy 😁 😁😁😁 The Myford ML7 does need a bit of fine tuning to set it up. Perhaps tuning is not the correct word....... more like final bed alignment, otherwise it can cut with a slight taper. Edit:- I don't think the link to Steve Jordan's...

    Battery charger help

can you take a picture of the label on the charger. Should be able to tell from that if it's just a basic car type charger. There should also be some label/marking on the golf trolley possibly near where you plug the charger in or on the main label somewhere. A picture of that as well. It may...

We all get to that stage of planning for what happens when we pop our clogs!! I have no selling experience using Sweeney Kincaid, but I do know of people who have sold a small lot using them. I wonder how they make their money? the buyer's fee. Is there a corresponding seller's fee? or they...

A manufacturing company I used for 30+ years went bust. The auction was on-line, but I couldn't bring myself to bid for anything. It felt like picking the bones of a friend.

    Concrete cut out in shed

It's not the weight which is an issue. The Myford is quite small and you can't turn anything really large. It's relatively slow speed, so you probably could get away with putting a sheet of ply down and making a bench which is secured to the walls. The real issue is the ML7 needs to be tuned...

Sad to see any company go down. We have a similar auction company in Scotland Sweeney Kincaid who seem to do all the auctions in this area. The buyers premium and VAT always bumps the price up quite a bit.

    CCTV, workshop security

thanks for that. My son in law's place has a band of oak trees about 5 trees deep and this time of year, they are in full foliage. it sounds like it might still get usable bandwidth. Once you do get it all set up if you ever do a speed test it would be interesting to see the results.

Had a look at the site, some really good stuff on there. and good prices considering the technology. Are you able to get connection with these units, or do you need a high gain antennas? What speed did you get with your broom test? Did you have to get above the tree line?
