Kitchen Table in maple - finished!

Many thanks for taking the trouble to post such a comprehesive reply Chris. That Veritas router plane looks nice - but a bit pricey. Might look out for one on "da bay", or maybe the Stanley #71.

Kitchen Table in maple - finished!

That's a lovely piece of work Chris. Many thanks for sharing the process and for the comprehensive WIP piccies. Any chance of a closer look at the inlay in the centre? It must be a real "wind up" cutting the recess for the inlay in such a large table top!

    Redirecting the Sun

Dan - ingenious as this at first appears, I think the effect will be negligible, and will be no more than sunlight reflected off a window on a house the other side of the road. The sunlight reflected will only be that light which falls on your mirror - maybe a couple of sq ft at best, and...

    Walnut and Maple End Table

Now that is a really nice piece of work! I love the contrasting timbers - and all very nicely thought out. Refreshingly different.

    Another Dartmoor scene

Plymbridge? Or maybe Topsham Bridge on the river Avon near Loddiswell?

    Dartmoor scene

I've walked and cyced it many times DW. The giveaway for me was the bend in the valley and the width of the path - not many that wide on Dartmoor.

Keep it coming Paul. I've fancied making one of these for ages but was totally intimidated by the ones you posted in an earlier thread.

What are they teaching in history classes?

Wise words indeed Smudger. Which is exactly why I'm retiring at the end of next month around my 55th birthday from a career in financial services. Pressure gets to you in the end, and even if you can handle it, ultimately there is a price to pay. So I take a modest "hit" on my pension for...

    Jokes

My favourite cricketing story was told by Freddy Truman on Parkinson quite a few years ago, and he swore that it was true because he was there. It involved Joel Garner, the West Indian fast bowler, who at 6ft 9ins is the tallest player ever to have played test Cricket. Apparantly when he was...

WoodRat versus the new Router Boss

$699 - $799 based on length of beam so broadly in line with the WR. Bet that it will cost the same number of £'s tho' when imported into the UK. I wonder how heavy it is and how much excess baggage I'd have to pay to buy one on holiday and bring it home?

Put in my place by my 7 year-old!

I hold her personally responsible DW and I think it very bad form that she doesn't tell her Dad she's about to do it!

Put in my place by my 7 year-old!

Brilliant! It reminds me of a game we used to play with our daughter. You would pick up a card which would have a simple question printed on it, then you would spin a pointer on a dial of the alphabet and the answer had to begin with the letter it pointed to. She was about 6 and the...

Alan - thanks for the info on the infrared repeater gismo - it's started a whole new train of thought into my own requirements. BTW - I like your website. You've made some lovely stuff. I'm not sure why there is this sudden hang-up over occasional mis-spellings. My view, FWIW is that...
