    Oh Happy Days!

Rob - I'm seriously disappointed at your lack of imagination! ;) :) It was a hot summer and the aircraft were parked on the tarmac with the canopies back to stop them being uncomfortably hot when we got in. These bees clearly thought that this was a nice sheltered and warm place to rest...

    Oh Happy Days!

Well done Simon. They don't recruit idiots for that job. Beware pilots winding you up - I plead guilty to that one. In the RAF we used to practise radio failure. When this happens the "carrier wave" is often still available so that if you press the "transmit" button the ATC can hear a...

    Jokes

I read the other day that the owl population is down after all the heavy rain last summer. The problem was, apparantly with the male owls. It was too wet to woo.

Anyone fitted a new fan to a tumble drier?

Steve - presumably there is no blockage and all ducting is clear, and filters clean?

Anyone fitted a new fan to a tumble drier?

Our Bosch dishwasher just died mid-cycle at lunchtime on Xmas Eve. I took the door cover off and found that a leak of rinse aid (SWMBO had been overfilling) had softened the insulation on the wiring loom and it had shorted out. So, off to Maplins to buy some connectors and spliced in about 6 x...

Anyone fitted a new fan to a tumble drier?

Steve - We had a broken fan blade that was hitting the casing and sounding like running a stick across the park railings. Despite having to remove the drum, replacing it was very easy. In fact I superglued the fan back together as a temporary fix while I ordered a replacement over the net...

Coffee table and small cabinet - Completed

Very nice Robert - and many thanks for the WIP piccies. I've always been nervous of breadboard ends for all the reasons given - but I guess it'll depend on how dry and well seasoned the timber was. And I believe beech is pretty stable anyway. Lovely finish - what did you use?

    Camera suggestions?

That looks like a really good choice Neil. My first digital camera was a Canon and I'll be very surprised if you are anything other than delighted with the results. If you intend to take it away on holiday I would suggest that you buy a b***** great additional memory card to go with it - say...

    Yandles

Olly - the show starts at 10.00am on both days. I phoned Yandles this morning and the person I spoke to just said that the demo's start at the same time, apparantly on a rolling basis. She was unable to give me any times.

    What every small child needs!

Steve - so can I rely on you not to "highjack" my idea for a Fisher Price al-Qaeda Glasgow Airport Kamikaze vehicle set?

    What every small child needs!

When my daughter sent me this I thought it was a spoof - but apparantly not. Read the user reviews - they're priceless. Free pair of Marigolds with every set.

The old and the new (writing sideboard) Finished for now

Christoph - looking really good. And rapid progress too! This is my favourite type of thread - lots of lovely WIP photos. Any thoughts on finish yet?

    woodrat or not....

Neil - there have been quite a few discussions on this choice in previous threads on this site - worth doing a search. Choice seems to be between the Wood rat or the new Router Boss, and a decent router table incorporating an Incra Fence. I guess it depends on the use you intend to give it...

Arts & Crafts-style TV Stand (English Oak) - Finished

Very nice piece of work Olly - well done. I like the grain and marks on the top as well - as previously pointed out this is real wood and not some IKEA tat.

    Camera suggestions?

Neil - lots of good advice offered here. If you think that woodworking starts you down a slippery slope you aint seen nothing yet when it comes to cameras. But just as there is more fishing equipment designed to catch fishermen than fish, so cameras have more featurtes designed to catch...

Build or buy kitchen base units?

Congratulations! =D> And you think you're going to have time to build a kitchen? (hammer)

Bathroom cabinet now a pile of scrap

Wow - You really went for the nuclear option! David - we've all been there. I remember making a plywood canoe and lovingly making 2 left sides. I should have known better having made 2 right wings for a model glider the week before! And I always say that if you are going to have a...

    Flat Screen Telly...recommendations?

Rob - you shouldn't need to compromise. The DVD/HDD recorder we got as part of our package included a writable DVD as well as a HDD all in the same "box". For casual recording there is no contest between HDD recording and DVD. With the HDD you never need to worry about whether there is...

    Flat Screen Telly...recommendations?

Rob - I've been very pleased with my Panasonic 32" LCD TV and DVD with HDD. However, for our second TV my wife bought me a Logik LPV 2250 which is absolutely brilliant. Very intuitive to use, the 160GB HDD gives about 140 hours of recording (now comes with 250 gb hdd as standard). Whilst...
