I'd be interested in the answer to this one as well!

    The Economic Crisis

Getting back on topic, the last time we faced a housing bust in 1991, I was manager of a large building society branch. Senior management had been a bit complacent and a new CEO was recruited who could only be described as a thug. He was hell bent on growth at any cost, and introduced 100%...

Thanks for that V. Appears interesting - I'll have a closer look.

Which Incra Fence for a Router Table?

I'm off to the US on Tuesday and plan to take advantage of the time to pick up an Incra router fence for my Norm type table. But which one? The 16" Ultra can be had from Amazon for $221, which falls nicely within the £150 limit for customs. The LS Supersystem with wonderfence is $385, both...

New Google browser - any users?

Check out comments here Steve. I really like it. Only shortcoming for me so far is that it doesn't have "autofill" for completing forms as, perversely, it's not compatible with the Google toolbar. However, obviously this will follow as this is only a beta version. But if you are happy with...

Phil - would you be kind enough to make sure you have a wheel kit fitted to any cast iron gear (tablesaw, planer, spindlemoulder etc) because even using the tail lift on Gary's truck, I would be at risk of putting my back out trying to manoeuvre it into position without. Also if you can leave...

    Trust RIP

Cheers Phil! I've booked a van and I'll be right over. Hope you've got some decent stuff. Where's a good place to park? :)

A lovely piece! What finish are you going to use? Looking forward to the next episode :) .

    Any walkers/hikers here?

Byron - I think you're nearer the Appalachian trail here than you will be in Banff! :) We're just doing "taster" sections thru the Berkshires, Whites, Greens and Baxter, finishing with an ascent of Mt Katahdin in Maine - but we will be camping - must be mad! Really looking forward to it.

    Any walkers/hikers here?

Don't know the Brecons well, but there are some nice routes along the Pandy Ridge just north of Abergavenny, and around Llanthony Priory. You'll LOVE the Banff area. We did it in 2000, and we'll be walking some sections of the Appalachian Trail thru New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine at the same...

    Hamilton

But they went in to the corner side by side, which is why Hamilton got pushed off. Any advantage he got from the tow was gained from being behind - not in front. He was already in the tow before they entered the corner, so he had merely unwound back to the position they were in before they...

    Hamilton

I really can't be bothered to watch F1 any more. Races should be won on the track unless there is a clear breach of rules, not by a bunch of "suits" getting together after the event and deciding what they want the result to be. In this case, Hamilton was legitimately forced off the track on...

    Google Chrome

From a practical standpoint I quite like it. My son is a customer solutions engineer for Google and has been using Chrome for months. Definitely very much quicker than IE (try opening the same page in each in different windows), and the fact that one tab crashing doesn't crash all tabs makes...

English Oak - high moisture content - advice please!

Rob - thanks for the advice. Just need to negotiate with SWMBO as to where it can go! John - I had already done that sum! Yet another reason why it can't all go upstairs to the backbedroom. Of course if I want to reduce the MC by 10% that also implies a loss of about 120lbs of water -...

    Sorrento

We spent a happy week there a couple of years back. The streets are typically Italian and reward explorers who wander aimlessly. If she's a first time visitor, she cannot miss out on visiting both Pompeii and Herculaneum - both worth visiting. Pompeii has it's own station and is easily...
