    Moving at last

Good luck David. We've lived in the South Hams near Yealmpton for the last 25 years and whats not to like? Love the coast, mild winters and when the rest of the country is oppressively hot, the sea breeze kicks in and it's really comfortable.

    Induction hobs

It's all smoke and mirrors to me. All I can say is that we got a 5 ring Siemens induction Hob about this time last year and it still looks as though it is in a showroom. No cracks, no scratches. Cleaning is so easy because nothing gets baked on. Fast, clean and instantly controllable. Wouldn't...

    Idiots on ladders - 2014

A lot of the time you just need the, err, balls, to go for it.

    River coffee table

That's really nice. Any problems getting glass cut to such an irregular shape?

    Dewalt 625, 625E and 625EK for Woodrat

I find the Muscle Chuck absolutely invaluable. After getting one for the 625E in my Wood rat, I bought one for my hand held Elu as the threads were beginning to go on the spindle, and the Muscle Chuck has given it a new lease of life as well as making the router bits easier to change.

    water getting under lead flashing

Or instead of trying to form a perfect seal, try an anti-capillary groove to limit the travel of moisture?

Advice for sheet goods - MDF or ply?

Ed - I used Blum Tandembox drawers throughout - Stainless steel in the kitchen, and grey painted in the utility room. These come as a kit for all the runners/sides/fittings, leaving you to cut your own drawer bottoms and backs from your chosen material, so drawers can be made custom width to...

Advice for sheet goods - MDF or ply?

I used 18mm melamine faced chipboard (MFC) for the main carcase sides and bases, and 9mm MFC for the back panels on my kitchen build. If you're building a kitchen from scratch you'll have better ways of spending your time without having to finish the inside of the units. Also MFC is easy to...

Advice for small, "In the House" projects, please!

How about a ship in a bottle? Here's one I made when I was aged 14 in 1967. It's in a Haig Dimple Bottle, and of course you do have to empty the bottle first which is a bonus! The book I used was "Secrets of Ships in Bottles" by Peter Thorne and all these years later it is still...

    Makita or Festool Plunge Saw

You are obviously less ham fisted than me Roger. Most of the time I find the grippy stuff just fine, but if you accidentally knock the rail with your hip, or saw a piece that has a rough surface so that the rail isn't in contact all the way along and across, it is easy to wreck a piece of wood...

Kitchen extension Mega build. Photo heavy!

Thanks. Drawers have transformed the way we use the kitchen. Those "Le Mans" and "Fly Moon" corners work well too. However i would stick to the ones that fit in a 1000mm unit if possible as I see in a neighbours kitchen that the ones designed for a 750mm unit have very little space on the shelves.

    Makita or Festool Plunge Saw

   ....... and of course you'll be needing a Domino, and I've heard that the Random Orbital Sanders are astonishingly good. Xmas is coming ...............

    Makita or Festool Plunge Saw

The standard supplied blade is good enough to trim oak and beech framed kitchen cabinet doors to size and leave a finish ready for light sanding before painting. Using the rail, you can trim a dead straight fraction of a mm at a pass, dead accurate every time. I love my TS55 !

    Makita or Festool Plunge Saw

Well done Pete - you know it makes sense! I've never regretted buying mine. I would suggest that you get a couple of rail clamps to secure the rails to the work piece though rather than just relying on the "grippy stuff" on the rail. No need to go for Festool ones though - the Makita rail...

    Recommend PIR Security Light

I fitted a 30w LED PIR floodlight from LED Hut in January, and the PIR sensor packed up in August. It was replaced by LED Hut immediately and the LED has just quit after less than 3 months - so back it goes again!

    Bifold Doors Project

Looks like a nice job Steve. So much better than a sliding door and a fixed panel, and it looks like you've been able to bury the bottom track into the floor very neatly. Thanks for posting.

    Core tool kit

I think if you're waiting for Rob to comment you'll have a long wait as he tells me that he doesn't frequent these parts any more. Probably best to ask any questions requiring his input "over there".

Kitchen extension Mega build. Photo heavy!

 Yep - she's a good girl! Been married for 36 years and counting, so she's waited a long time for this kitchen. I stripped out most of the units during the afternoon, including the hob, and disconnected the electrics in the wall to be demolished. The oven was unaffected, and as you can...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Possibly, but anyone really determined would just rip it off the wall anyway. We avoid ordering anything of value when we're going away so if they want the usual freebies, double glazing leaflets etc then let them have them!
