Blades for a couple of old No4 hand planes?

Those excellent photographs are quite revealing.Am I the only one to be seeing what looks like an inserted piece of steel to form a cutting edge? There is plenty of room for improvement on the chipbreaker front,as has been mentioned and it will lead to a better plane. What it won't do is solve the...

Nature of the game WARNING this post contains graphic images of a hand injury

My sympathy for you injuries is accompanied by a wish for the sufferer to tell us more about what happened so that we might collectively suggest safer work practices for those who might be vulnerable.Everybody hates learning of such mishaps and we ought to have the collective knowledge to make...

Advice Please- Table Saw Push Sticks and Disks

Those plywood push sticks look entirely reasonable,do they differ greatly from the plastic version supplied? The next step should be to attach the guards to the saw as this will reduce the risks of injury further.Normally saws of this general type would be supplied with a general purpose...

Blades for a couple of old No4 hand planes?

I'm fairly sure you would be better off with a standard Stanley replacement.

Oscillating Sanding Machines, Belt and Bobbin Type Any Good?

I have the Jet Bos5 and on the handful of times each year that I need it,there is no substitute. It really depends on the type of work you do.

Royal Mail - complete ban on bladed items from 22nd April

I had something similar a couple of weeks ago.I was sitting no more than 10 feet from my front door when an email arrived telling me that a delivery had been made.I found the package by the gate. The Evri delivery driver had to walk past the front door to reach the gate..... Had I not been in the...

If the OP hasn't used it previously, this might be a good use for the sagulator. The Sagulator – WoodBin

    This could be interesting ...

I second that opinion.Really interesting and i was staggered to learn of a literally astronomical distance measured to within the thickness of a human hair.

Dado blade - UNI EN847 COMPLIANT and legal in the EU

I have no doubt that it is possible to use the device without a riving knife,my interest is whether doing so in a workshop with employees is frowned upon by the HSE.In the dim and distant past I have seen them used on a radial arm saw,but I wouldn't expect to see it now.

Sheet goods fitting to awkward places... a tick stick

Have you ever wondered how furniture is fitted to the non-rectilinear interior of a boat?

Dado blade - UNI EN847 COMPLIANT and legal in the EU

Just how thick would the riving knife need to be? A video of a legitimate setup would be revealing,if it can be created.

    Builder Depot - Birch Plywood

Look for core voids, and hope to find none.Traditionally,Finnish birch was the best and most expensive but the other Baltic states could produce decent ply and usually at a lower price.Repair patches are far from unknown and may influence your decision but look at both sides of the ply as one...

    Remove and reinstall edage banding

I know nothing about laser edge banders and not that much more about others. It might help to know how different the revised door size will be as removing an amount greater than a saw kerf could be done in two cuts, one to clean up the edging for re-use and one to take the door to it's new...

Now I like Bosch pro, but there's a limit...

I make a point of not buying or wearing things that advertise the maker. If they really want me to wear those,it will cost them, not me,a big pile of money.

    A sharpening thread :-)

A small point that Jacob skipped over is that using wet and dry paper on glass leaves a tiny step for your honing guide to ride over-you might not even notice it's effect.

    Porsche

Is it possible that the colour of the car in the first post came about because somebody or other bet one of the ad men that he couldn't make a most unlikely colour fashionable?

    curved reception desk

I suspect they are hopeful of your quality at a mythical price point, maybe a budget has been allocated and you exceeded their guess or a buyer might be on a commission based on what discount he can achieve. That kind of stunt is all too common and your best course of action is to stick to your...

    Digital Calipers

I had a cheapy for several years and not only did it run down the battery all too quickly,it reached the point where it became inconsistent-it went in the wheely bin once the battery had been removed.I had a lingering suspicion that the foam in the lid of the case might have been pressing on the...
