Been asked to make my old Mum a new 6 x 3 side gate. As I don't usually do joinery please advise on which joints for the frame and stiles, Mortise and tenon or half lap joints, or would you suggest and alternative ( Cant justify a domino for a one off project) Have all the usual tools...

    Belt sander marks

never had a problem with my Wolf belt sander but last couple of uses it is leaving marks on the timber surface as though I am not holding it level - perhaps it was user error, anything I should check?

    Rutlands Cators

Indeed the tires are super durable, having a concrete floor I have found rubber tires wear quite quickly, as for the price, well I am happy to pay that at a fiver each its pennies a year if they last and most importantly they a so easy to move even with the heavy table saw on.

    Rutlands Cators

https://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+workshop- ... k9030pack4 Fitted the above to my Scheppach TS4010 as the factory undercarriage didn't suit my workshop. I have to say they are brilliant, saw now glides like it is on ice, they lock very securely and best of all fitted the cabinet with no drilling.

    8 Piece Marples turning set

The price looks about right, they may not be HSS though at that age which is not a problem as long as they are sharpened correctly, would be a good basic starter set which can be added to or replaced as required.

Electromagnet Bench Attachment A-Level Idea - NEED OPINIONS!

Another idea from an old post......... I always thought that a 43mm drill collar with bubble levels in 3 axes would be useful. Never found one :-( The best trick I picked up to help me drill vertical holes handheld is to put an engineers square on the surface next to the hole, blade sticking...

Electromagnet Bench Attachment A-Level Idea - NEED OPINIONS!

There is a lot of interest in Lichtenburg fractal burning at the moment and only one commercial unit that I am aware of in the word. In the USA at that. If you came up with a safe, practical unit to meet HSE spec you could retire on the profits...... :D

    DIY French Polish Repair

We have a small coffee table which is prone to water ring marks, this has made me a dab hand at French polishing this small area, a rub over with very fine wire wool, wipe with meths then apply the polish with a rubber, I wouldn't want to try and do a large area though, getting a consistent...

Axminster Pillar Drill - Why Is This Happening

Is there no threaded hole for a retaining screw, if not perhaps the taper has worn enough to allow a poor friction fit. Maybe a local engineer could tap the taper for a retaining bolt?

Camvac Interceptor Lid....are these any good?

I got one of these from the Tool post last year, coupled it with a 200 litre plastic bin and it works a treat. I put the bin outside the workshop and in the extractor bag I just have a layer of dust in the bag - it is surprisingly effective. I did add a neoprene seal around the bin lid, I used a...

    Airbrushes

I use an Iwata Kustom brush from time. I started with the cheap Chinese copy brush and whilst there is a big difference in quality, unless you are doing fine work the cheaper ones can produce very acceptable results. If you run direct from a larger workshop compressor just get awater trap and...

    First attempt at an egg

Eggs are a great practice piece as to get a good egg shape is surprisingly difficult. Try using it for skew practice. They are also good missiles when it all goes wrong.

    Cordless Drill Battery Rebuild\Recell?

I used to do a lot of similar rebuilds for model aircraft power packs. I always used overlander for cells and wire and shrink-wrap etc. I have done a couple of packs for my Makita in the past, now I just buy a Chinese copy pack and consider it disposable.

Is a 3" chuck big enough?

Looks to be a good match to me, I think the chuck will be fine if it has the jaw sets you require for your projects. Oh and the correct thread size of course.
