buy the largest capacity and highest quality you can afford, bargains to be had in the second hand market. If you are going to do bandsaw boxes you will need an accurate saw to make it enjoyable and decent results.
Hmmmm a small tablesaw may be more suitable to that kind of work. Bandsaws can be very very accurate but it is usually the better (more expensive) models and they all need some fettling and good quality blades.
Just read the post relating to the lathe, 1mm out dont see why that is a problem drill - insert bust - turne between centre or on mandrell should be fine my previous lathe was a lot further out and was never an issue. I made 100`s of pens and between centre tyrnings over 15 years, the only thing...
Shouldnt be a problem to extend the mounting post - if you get stuck the below is a helpful forum

is the alignment not adjustable?
I would go for a better quality 2nd hand lathe, it may come with accessories and tools you will also need, the lathe is no good without chuck face plates drive centres, gouges, sharpening system, and all the other odds and ends needed to turn.
Cannot advise re the Axi saw however I have a Scheppach ts4010 and ticks all the boxes for me

It may be benefitial for all those requiring or interested in jaws carriers to contact Felix at the tool post so at least he is aware there is demand for a production run?
Felix could give no projected dates for new stock when i contacted him last week - bit stuck now with a chuck that if they dont get any will have limited applications or I buy duplicate jaws to fit!
