    Same as I use - If it works stick (lol) with it as you will know how it works, the open time and how pigments work with it.

    workzone bench grinder

    Sounds like a lot of faffage to me, a simple bench grinder with 120 or 180 grit white wheels and a jig of choice for fast repeatable grinds. Wet wheel way to slow for turning tools and the dry wheel shown in the above image is too course and too narrow for an easy job on resharpening.

    Running end grain through a thicknesser..

    You will get at best a poor finish and at worst the thicknesser will rip out the sides of your blocks, a hand held sander will be a better proposition. Or a low angle block plane

    Hmmmm doing a bit of research the B&D powerfile belts are 451 x 12mm, think the belts I got are the 457 length, that may be the issue.
