    Milling trees

I guess it depends on the size of logs you have to mill, my saw is a cheap and cheerful 62cc combined with a small mill, does what I need. There are many about now look at chainsawbars for entry level mills - as for a saw the bigger the saw the bigger the log.

    Milling trees

I have a cheap as chips chainsaw mill which has paid for itself many times over and is still going strong, not furniture grade but has produced me hundreds of turning blanks FOC. https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/98219-chilling-chinese-milling/?tab=comments#comment-1466130

    Help with making fishing floats

The chuck should self tighten on the shaft, it may be your lathe has a brake that caused the unwinding, or check to see if there is a secondary grub screww on the shaft. On my VB36 I use a secondary fastner if in reverse as this will obviously unscrew the chuck - stay safe.

    Thinking of getting this ...

Problem will be if you have a query or problem under warranty. I suggest you look at R-Tech products, good entry level machines with a customer support second to none. Also have a view of MIG Welding Forum loads of info.

    Finish for kitchen knife handle

5 minute epoxy works well on fishing lures but really needs running in the lathe at slow speed whilst it dries to give a super smooth finish

    Pocket holes in a 2 x 4

Yes I have some off cuts so I will have a play around, I think the screw length will be more of an issue than if it is dead centre so will look see and have a play.

    Pocket holes in a 2 x 4

Ok can play around with that, so what about screw length their seems to be little info on the WWW considering it is a popular wood size. Going to use 6mm (or #14) screws but how do I without too much trial and error know what length to order?

    Pocket holes in a 2 x 4

Ok I have the basic Kregg k3 which is a useful bit of kit, but only does up to 38mm thickness. Is there a "Cheat" so I can pocket hole some 2 x 4 ? If not which jig would do this size of timber?

    Bats

The bottom line with bats is you cannot disturb them, however most british species have summer and winter roosts. The usual method is after they have had their young so there are no dependant littlies in the building you can fit exit only tubes to there holes so they can exit but not return and...

Keops interlocking wood cabins - anyone used them?

Thanks brian, this kind of justifies the building in bricks and mortar I think this has confirmed my fears. Much appreciated to prevent a costly error.

Keops interlocking wood cabins - anyone used them?

Looking ahead to our impending house move, I am hoping to do a brick built workshop depensding on planning, however these do look good. The website is very informative and they seem well clued up on insulation and the issues with the building moving (as timber does) I was more concerned about...
