A great day today at the Handmade show …weather was generally kind to us too. There were a few wood turners there and a chainsaw carver amongst the usual craft fair offerings. My slab & cookie tables got quite a few positive comments and ive provisionally sold my burr/ripple maple table...

The best way is not to wire brush but use a knife between each segment to clear out dust & carbon from the brushes - it’s how my dad was taught to refurbish starter motors as an apprentice in the late 1940’s

Could be an issue with the brushes or dirt inbetween the sectors the bushes make contact with.

Cut down a dead hazelnut tree today ….it’s been dead as long as we’ve been here -7 years or so . saved the trunk section s 4-5” dia and in approx 30” lengths for al you turning enthusiasts I travel to lots of areas of the uk with my daytime job so could meet at convenient places etc to hand...

Depending on the age of the recycled boards the plastic could suffer from embrittlement due to UV exposure….I’d try different saws etc on a scrap length before I even agreed to do it
