    Oil finish for outdoor oak table

    Not extensively tried it on all year round outdoors wood …but Mikes Magic Mix …1/3 Tung Oil, white Spirit and Outdoor satin varnish dries well and may offer suitable annual protection

    Very interesting….its meths but contains no methanol 😀 MEK is a very volatile solvent - the smell of the original marker was due to MEK - it will flash off very quickly. ISO propanol is propyl alcohol … just a bit ‘oilier’ than ethanol

    In real life it doesn’t look quite as large …the pic was taken on an angke. The black steel let is 50mm deep compared to the 22mm of the maple.

    If your going to use this for anything other than a cheeseboard, please remove the bark it is a potential food safety hazard - ive been a technical manager and auditor for 25 years in the food industry so I’m fairly qualified/experienced to offer best advice etc

    He should never of attempted a river table in 2 days …plus he had little idea of how to do it. He should of ripped that slab down the centre and used with the waney edges as the river in the centre - but it’s a several days job done correctly
