    Scribe a groove down the dowel …the excess glue will then have an escape route

    If you have evidence of the original cost/spec of the kitchen fight it out with your insurance Co - you have paid premiums etc and they are required to replace like fir like etc

    Did a quick favour for a friend of ours …… she can’t bend down to move the door wedge - so a quick make of a wedge ( spalted oak) with a dowel handle/ beech knob, finished off with my home brew wax.

    Build a milling rig to take my recently acquired 2300 x 800 mm beech slab and produce a table for my eldest and one to sell. A few other tables to make to hopefully exhibit & sell in the summer

    Too long imho …the spikes are needed to stop the meat moving not be the slaughter device !!!

    There will be still voids around a drive in version. You could carefully tap out the wood and secure the spikes in (which are stainless) with some acrylic to seal it in
