The sled doesn’t need a vice like grip and with carefull adjustment of the bolts holding the router to the linear bearings you can get the cutter ‘level’ ….but there will always be a small level of play in the bearings so you will see a slight striping effect from the milling cutter…….easily...

The rails are 20mm As with any milling of wood care needs to be taken on changes of grain and soft/hard spots etc. I have a spill board cutter with replaceable cutter tips which gives a good cut and only ever try to take 1mm per pass….this seems to reduce the rip outs …..but it does still...

A 1/4” shank tungsten carbide die grinder bit would be ideal ….flat sided cylinder ones are easily available.

‘Meths’ is methanol or methyl alcohol. Methylated spirit is commonly known as denatured alcohol. It is basically ethanol/methanol mix that has additives that make it poisonous, very smelly and dangerous to consume. These additions to the ethanol 'denature' it.
