Hi There, not sure if you have bought a P/T as yet but just came across this listed with BPI auctions, also they have some decent timber for sale by the looks of it, link below https://www.bpiauctions.com/auctions/#!/itemDetails/3308/316653

    Axminster AT310SPT spiral planer thicknesser

I have the Axminster spiral cutter and have to say I think it’s a very good piece of kit for the money. Yes there are better machines out there and yes it’s a bit of a pain to set up out of the box if not true but once it’s done it’s a very good machine and quiet too. I bought a decent pair of...

Talking myself out of buying premium tools

In my opinion there are two answers to this, if you are making furniture for a living then i think the premium brands over time pay for themselves, your chisels, planes etc will hold an edge and be pretty true from the box and stay true for much longer between sharpening saving you time and...

    The State Of Furniture

If your looking for some nice slabs, think they have redwood, walnut and oak might be worth looking at BPI auctions, im after a piece of bog oak they have for a project

    The State Of Furniture

Totally agree. Some of the things i have repaired over the last couple of years would make your toes curl. I do find it very poor that big designer brands charge thousands for veneered MDF jewellery boxes, tables, sideboards etc that admittedly do look nice but seem to be made to be seen rather...

    Retirement

So No expert here by any means but i would stick to HMOs, especially in and around university campus. Do the work yourself, kitchen, painting etc saves on costs and you will be head and shoulders above most of what's out there to rent for students. You should be pleasantly surprised at 10% plus...

    Retirement

I would say when you really start thinking about it. My thoughts, would not take an annuity, check your pension provider, take the 25% tax free lump sum and use that until it runs out, then drawer down annually on the balance. One thing i would do is check all the T&Cs of your provider, i found...

    Etsy...how does it work?

Cant comment on eBay but i can on Etsy. As a complete technophobe i managed to open a shop on there. Found it pretty slow to start with then thought i would try the ad spend thing. Does seem to work as they seem to get more traffic to your site and therefore sales. Not the cheapest as thet do...

Workshop build - Insulated panels ?

Evening all, Just wondering if any of you have built a workshop using insulated panels, with a wood frame. Am thinking of using 80mm PIR with .7m metal front and .5mm back. Reason is speed of assembly, insulation and noise. Anyone else gone down this route at all and if so any concerns or plus...

    Have I undersold myself here?

Only advice i would give here is try to forget about there final words, try and work out how long it will take (including sketch's, sourcing materials etc) then give them your price. Always room to haggle after

    Have I undersold myself here?

Labour time - are you including the time it took you to source legs, screws, hinges, handles etc, as take it from somebody that has and still does underestimate this it really adds up Personally i would estimate 2-3 days, £30 per hour minimum. Range £850 - £1150
