    A chest of drawers.

Magnificent piece of work, thanks for sharing. I had a dabble with the dark side of french polishing a while ago, client insisted, why, i didn't dare ask but used those super blonde flakes you mentioned. To be fair after initial worries of getting the mix correct was actually a bit of fun. I...

    Oak table finishing advice

Hi Andy, as others have said Osmo is great, alternatively if you want a bit more of a sheen/gloss finish i have found woodoc 10 to be very good. you'll need 3 coats of this though just de-nib with wire wool between each one

    Pricing advice

Firstly, lovely work. Might be worth having a look on Etsy or similar. Difficult one as I assume your not getting the timber for free, same with finish, sandpaper electric etc. If your making them just for the love of it at least the cost of another blank and a couple of hours labour ?

    Need a new block plane

I wouldn't get to hung up on the blade angle unless you are planning something tight and figured, if you are buy yourself a spare blade and grind accordingly. I can and do use mine on end grain but mostly used for cleaning joints etc. As for brand thats a whole can of worms, been fortunate...

    Any tips on planing wenge?

For what its worth i would go at least 30 and get the mouth very close, i even invested in a PMV11 blade and ground to 35 with a secondary bevel. Made a table for a client a couple of years ago out of solid Wenge, vowed never to work with the stuff again, beware of the splinters too

Any (post 2008) Economists in the house? - Inflation.

Agree 100%. But, it would probably take 2 plus years to agree how the home should be divided into rooms, choosing the joiners, decorators etc etc, then to top it all it would almost always go over budget and be delayed...!

Any (post 2008) Economists in the house? - Inflation.

Yes you could but i could turn your statement on its head and argue the same has been said throughout history to moan of inequality. Yes it would be extravagant to 99% plus of the worlds population, but i say again without Mr Bezos and everyone else for that matter spending money it keeps...

Any (post 2008) Economists in the house? - Inflation.

Jacob, yes its a ridiculous sum of money, but, Bezos having spent that much i just wonder how many jobs have been created from it, then from the money they have earned how many things have they purchased, then how many more jobs have been created and so on...

Any (post 2008) Economists in the house? - Inflation.

By no means a qualified Economist, but without doubt the biggest fear of any central bank or government is stagflation. All the major central banks are hinting at raising rates so there will be no surprises. The consensus is the fed will start to taper there bond buying program in November and...

    House Buying - Advice?

No expert by any means but the best piece of advice i have ever been given re houses is your better to have the worst house on a nice street than the best on the worst. A friend of mine has a small homebuilding company and he is still looking to buy land now if that helps. He also said i think...
