    Heating a insulated workshop

We spent some time in Newfoundland some years ago and I could not fathom why the house was built with underfloor heating in the garage until the 1st winter! only caveat is it was laid into the slab and on the ground floor run, worked a treat

Workshop Break and enter and steal

My cousin ex force, he advised the extra large very heavy Mag lite torch, really wouldn't fancy getting coshes with one of them! Mind you best advise I ever got was when we were in Spain and got burgled, Police turned up, there advise if you ever catch them in your home was knee cap them, throw...

    Timber suppliers, PAR Walnut

Not sure it helps much but for comparison week before last I bought 3 rough sawn American black Walnut boards @ 2400mm x 200mm x 32mm from EO Burton, came in at a tad under £400 inc VAT. Job was to be 25mm finish and had no problem getting that from the boards Hope it helps Sean.

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

I’m sorry but we are going to have to agree to disagree on this.

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

As I said, in 30 yrs I have never ever seen a business do this, unfortunately apart from probably a very few businesses the bottom line is all that matters

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

Your argument makes sense but where and when did the government do this? Are you talking about the 3m excluded from furlough etc of which I was one ?

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

I am sorry but in 30 odd years of business I have never ever seen that happen. What I have seen is due to higher taxation is below or zero wage inflation, if that doesn’t work loss of headcount, delay or cancellation of upgrades to equipment

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

Absolutely correct sorry but I must be having a brain fart as I just don’t get where you are coming from, can you explain to me where or how it was a redistribution of wealth?

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

May be a dumb reply but that money was spent on Furlough payments, covid drugs, PPE etc etc I can’t see how you can figure that you are each £15,000 worse of. Yes at some stage in theory the government will want to reduce the public debt but can you show me any country on planet earth that...

    Use of lacewood

Might be worth giving timberline/exotic hard woods a call. Have not bought any recently but have many times in the past

Take a look at the bottom

I think you hit the nail on the head, carcasses, and then iron mongery. For me go the extra mile and spend the money on a quality birch ply carcass, maybe overkill but it'll last years.

    Car dilemma

Had a similar problem a year or so back, friend of mine is in the trade and said try a company called motorway. Very easy to do online, add photos of the car/van I would show any marks, scratches as they assume there will be some. Ended up getting considerably more and they came and picked it up

Bad habits. I know I shouldn't, but I still do...

Must say I have had nothing but good experiences at EO Burton. Never been an issue getting a pack of Walnut, Oak etc out to choose the boards I want. I would speak to Andy always helped me. Think the reason for the wait would be down to the fact if they don’t take there break at said times they...
